Hi all,

On the bottom om my home screen there is an email button (white envelope with red @) and I really like that email program.

But whenever I click on an email in the notifications screen some other program is starting up. Where can I change this setting so email is always opened by the same program ?

Are you using a Gmail account? Most android devices have a "Gmail" app and an "Email" app. I normally use the "Email" app and turn off notifications on the Gmail app so I don't get double notifications for the same email. I have some non Gmail email addresses and some Gmail addresses so I use the "Email" app for everything.

Thanks for you reply T

Yes, I use gmail.

How do I get rid of that second gmail email programm ?

First you will need to add your gmail account to the E-Mail App (the App with the envelope and @ in red). Once you havedone that then you will need to tap on the Gmail App, go into settings and uncheck 'Notifications'. Now your email should open the way you it to.

Add your Gmail email acct to the Android eMail App the one with the envelope and @.

If you disable the Notifiactions as mentioned above and then drag and drop the Gmail App icon into the garbage can , then you won't even know that it's on your tablet.

No need to get a Windows Tablet......unless you want one and if you want one then way buy a Tab 3 in the first place?

There is no choice. You just have to accept what some else installed. No way to get rid of it. Not even if you pay extra.

That's why I root my devices. I can get rid of all the junk/bloatware and/or install a custom ROM that has all that removed

So the samsung android software is open source ?

In most cases no, generally speaking it isn't. They make portions of it open source, like the kernel which is fully open source (on some devices). But their actual ROM source code is closed source. Other OEMS would rip it to shreds if it was open source.

I have an email query...
With the SGT3 plugged in to the PC, I created a sub folder in Gmail on the PC, and moved a few emails in there, and it showed up on the tablet. Great. I then ,are a 2nd folder and moved emails across into it. I didn't check on the tablet, just assumed they would have moved over as before.... but unplugged and looked, and the 2nd folder has not been created on the tablet, but it shows on the PC?

EDIT: all fine after the tablet was turned on and off!

You also have the ability to uninstall any updates to the gmail app, and then turn it off. That way it really uses minimum amount of space.
