Two things that upset me at Verizon.

If you stream Spotify a lot, you can download it on wifi and use it offline when out and about with premium. Premium does cost $10,but if it lowers your data a lot then it could be worth it

Re: Two things that majorly **** me off at Verizon.

I have issues with their lack of knowledge about the phones they are trying to sell. Like in January when I asked if the Galaxy S4 would be getting KitKat soon and the dude asked me "what's kitkat?"

Although I pride myself in constantly being recognized by customers for knowing my product, we as sales reps aren't there to sell phones, we are there to sell service. OS updates isn't information that is regularly passed on to us, it's only found if we proactively look for it. OS updates has little to absolutely nothing to do with achieving our daily demands.

This sounds like typical sales people.. That's why I avoid them. They want to try and push you off that unlimited at all costs.

When the Share Everything plans were introduced, there was a huge incentive for us to get customers in to that, and most of us made a lot of extra money doing so. There's no longer any extra incentive for us to do that.

Our company is EDGE minded

Why??

I would think the subsidized 200 dollar phone tied to a two year contract would offer less risk and more reward for Verizon than the EDGE program.

I could understand that better if KitKat was brand new at the time. That store and rep lost a sale when I walked out and went to another location. The next rep was informed and got the sale. So kudos to him for taking the initiative to learn. I will still expect it in the future.

The Verizon corporate store is something I usually try to avoid anymore unless a visit is absolutely necessary. If I do visit it there are two workers there I refuse to accept help from. We also have a cellular connection store that is an authorized dealer. Their staff is more knowledgeable and courteous than at the actual Verizon store.

I don't care what kind of phone you have, that's not how I judge someone's worth or intelligence.

Well, with edge you sign a device payment contract, which states that should you terminate service then the balance, which can exceed $800, becomes due. So even with edge, people aren't likely to leave especially in the first year.

True, I guess it's a credit risk either way 200 up front and an et fee. Or edge with a smaller payment and a bigger et fee.

Re: Two things that majorly **** me off at Verizon.

Just a quick note about this, our point of sale system simply will not allow us to select an unlimited data plan. It isn't possible. If you really want to keep that you will have to try customer service or buy full retail unfortunately.

I know... that is why I said for them to push you off of unlimited. They want you to upgrade to get you off the unlimited instead of buying full retail to retain it.

I guess the nice thing about that is our system in my store, I'm not sure if its all stores corporate and retail, we're allowed to offer 6 gigs for the same price as the unlimited was

That is pretty much offered everywhere, from my understanding.

I was offered that, even after he looked at my usage. My son and I average 10-12GB each per month, so sharing 6 is a terrible idea. He still kept trying to convince me what a great deal it was.

Of course he was :P. Good job holding out!

As a salesman for Verizon I would like to say this. If you go to a corporate store, more than likely you're going to be treated like crap. They have it set up to be like a Walmart. I know at my store I will never call a customer an ***** for whatever decision they make. I may put my little two sense in and try to persuade otherwise but that's my job to a certain degree.

It really just depends on the person that's working and depends on the mood and willingness to work with a customer. Which if you look at it that way, that's all retail stores. Including Sprint, T-Mobile, or AT&T. It's unfortunate it's like that but people stop caring about customer service and more worried about making money when the true reality of things is completely the opposite if you do want more money.

I will end my post with this, we do make commission and we also have a base pay. We do make more commission on certain phones than others and accessories or insurance. All of Verizon reps should be educated to the point that they at least know what KitKat is but not all of us are educated to the point of what rooting, kernels, RAM, etc. Is. Which I think all of should as well. It sounded like that guy was a complete ***** and just had someone else do his tests that you must do in order to get any commission.

This is just a question, but you said you are a salesman for Verizon, but then bashed Corporate stores in the same line. As far as knowing what KitKat is, yes they probably should know, but they are trained to sell, they are not really trained for tech support unfortunately. You will always have the ones that love tech and stay up to date, but not all are into the technology, and it's just a sales job. As far as rooting, they don't know that in corporate locations because it voids warranties when done, so they can't even service a phone that has had that done to it. I also know there newer stores the corporate locations have more roles than just sales now. I went to the one in the Mall of America, the new store design, and they have specialist roles, sales etc. So eventually you may see more knowledge of such things IN corporate stores. I am hoping so anyway. I only go to the Corporate store in my town, and it is always busy there, while there are privately owned stores and the Best Buys that always seem to just have a bunch of guys standing around.

I bought my very first smartphone (HTC Eris) from a verizon corporate store. since then, I've learned to stay away from them, unless I just want to go in and play with the new phones, or compare what I have now with the newer phones. while the Sales people are generally nice at the two stores that I frequent, I generally know more about their phones than they do. Best Buy is where I've gotten my last three phones from, and that may never change. they are 3/3 in providing great customer service, not to mention they have price matched Amazon all three times. Verizon corporate stores apparently don't price match, so that is a big thing for me.
