TXTs coming over as MMSs...?

So sometimes if i send a pic message out, the reply txt messages comes over with a play button like it is a MultiMedia message of some sort, but it is just txt (no audio or video). AND my dad just replied to a normal txt of mine and it came over as an MMS too.

Using stock Messaging App.

Is this normal?

I find that happens when I get messages from people with iphones

Tap & hold the message, select attached items and see how that works. This happens to me with shared calendar appointments.

I agree, this just happened to me on Thursday. My brother is an iphone user, he sent out a text to 4 people. Not only did it arrive on my phone with the "play" button, but everyone's texts who responded to him, also came to me...

Does the iphone see all who get the message and is there a reply all? I could see how that could be dangerous if not.
