Wtf? Am I missing something here? And do custom roms suffer the same scrutiny. As a google baked one my privacy is mine no one else this issue must be addressed I don't know everything about this I'm starting this thread to be educated/start a rebellion (if necessary) what does everyone else think about this?

Already services are denied in u.s. various sites like filesonic and a few others (I was surfing and a few said they stoped service in u.s can't remember wich ones exactly right now)

Break out the molotov cocktails, because I'm in.

Shall I hack a few road construction signs to spread warnings about the zombie apocalypse that is sure to result from the destruction of the interweb as we know it if the government continues to take us from behind and have their way with us?

Its really sad thing its happening what do we do about it I read somewhere that we developed a hack so people in China? Could get around there firewall to access news and other restricted content banned from there country .....and yes yes you should we should arm ourselves before its to late mmmmm...chainsaws

Too many thoughts in once sentence makes it hard for everyone to read and understand what youre poiny is seems you have a valid point we just cant figure out what it is because there is no transition in them know what i mean everything just running together please organize the thoughts with punctuation so that all may enjoy your thoughts and point of view on the topic

Reporting live from MIUI.

My grammar sucks I'm hanging out a window with my arms stretch to get a signal punctuation can blow me so cut me some slack I don't have OCD....... if sopa is not a worry check this out pulled this off mediafire yesterday (hold on uploading photo)

SOPA isn't a worry. SOPA is dead. Internet providers and website operators can take care of software piracy without the massively draconian strictures that SOPA would have implemented.

Megaupload got caught doing something illegal. Happened the same time SOPA was being shot down.

My service provider has blocked a couple of "infamous" piracy sites from me.

The agreement is "You keep the media from destroying the internet for us, and we'll police the web to the best of our abilities ourselves". I think we users win.

It's rather sad MegaUpload is dead, a lot of the Hackintosh resources were stored on their servers. However, that's life I guess, the internet will go on and the world will turn and we'll still be finding ways to share files.

True I was trying to find a old copy of windows 98 and so many sites have been seized by the u.s government I'm going to start listing them here I think then after about a hundred then we can debate whoes actually policeing who but so far I think its not the users who won....Idk I'm torn over the subject of software piracy I totally beleve in supporting the developer however I'm also dirt poor so do I do without or do I let my basic ID function take over when things are easily available why isn't there a middle ground? .....what do we do?......why are we at this point....don't pirate software....."Download Now Free" the three most searched/advertised terms on the net. This is their problem not mine banks don't leave there money on the sidewalk.....I just don't know....I'm torn. I do know if they withe the net they have to pay the net should not be policed its just wrong the net was mentioned to be free some reason the hackers manifesto come to mind the world is riddled with rules and regulations on the net I can be free do and create as I please or even explore my dark side without harm to others or myself the net needs to be free the net has helped me understand who I really am and I wanna protect that

Aahhh, the sounds of self-justification....

I am a software thief. I steal music.

I take stuff that doesn't belong to me. I take software that someone else spent long hard hours developing and use it without paying for it. I take music from people who spend millions of dollars writing and recording it.

Be a man and take responsibility for what you do. Self justification for doing something wrong is lying to yourself. Be a man and face your actions.

I also agree with that but is it stealing if it was freely given? Who's the theif the first person who shared? The 100th all? Or the artist makeing millions? (Excludeing most software developers they have it rough)

I think you should read the news in depth before getting so upset. i'm not sure what you are upset about...

sopa/pipa/etc is not responsible for takedowns. as someone said, they died.

sharing copy written material is illegal already.

The reason SOPA/PIPA caused outrage and was stopped was because the people made their voices heard with reason. SOPA/PIPA seeking to enforce great power without going through proper legal channels. this affects even law abiding citizens!

megaupload was taken down through existing laws. Some sites chose to take themselves down out of fear, some get taken down. separate issues.

if you want to debate what is right/wrong with current laws that is a separate issue.

You can debate that piracy doesn't "hurt anyone" except millionaires, but i doubt you could real data to support this. gone are the days when a band can just "make it" by signing a deal and getting lots of money. many large artists have to constantly tour to make a living, its hard work.

on the opposite side, the music industry has lost less than other market areas during these hard times, so it is possible to argue that piracy does not have the huge affect that RIAA/etc claim.

sure, you can argue that one person makes too much, or that market takes more then they should, but in the end, who are you to decide how much something is worth? the U.S. is a market economy, you vote with your pocketbook, if you can't live without some music or software, it sure sounds like its something valuable right? so why should you get something valuable for nothing?

I'm not saying i've never downloaded anything, but I don't claim that its right to do so.

In the end, if the people that are making software/music/movies dont get the money, then quality/quantity of production will decrease. believe it or not, many people want to get paid for their efforts, or they will stop making whatever it is that you love.
