Ugly Orange Messages in Lollipop - How do you change it?

I guess I'm in the minority, I like the orange. I've used all the messengers out there. The customization is great, but every one of them became buggy after awhile. I always wind up back to stock for the stability.

OK , Let me say that I too am disappointed. You can work with the orange.... I use Go keyboard and used a water or beach background, and then changed the upper ( messenger app part) to an orange sunset. It looks pretty good. However, I switched from an iPhone to an android for 3 reasons;

1. The ability to customize - i.e., you certainly can't get a cool icon pack for iPhone - and thats just one example...
2. Widgets.... nothing else needed to say
3. The stylus in my Note 4 - it just doesn't get any better than to pull out a pen an jot down whatever you want and be able to move that anywhere you want it.

I don't like being locked down to a color. Even if I liked the color, the thought of not being able to change it is troubling to my customizing mindset.

I am Ok with everything else about Lollipop thus far. Don't give up on Android - find another solution !!

Here is my suggestion to you all:

Get Go SMS pro and the Go keyboard ~ Best Keyboard I've tried and the messaging app lets you fully customize while it is S pen friendly and the paid pro version is split screen ready ....

Textra is lacking in these functions.

I use the messenger app from Google. It's pretty awesome, and you can change the colors too.

The only thing I do not like about android is the fact you cannot modify the Orange to something less stressful. Like Red I find Orange causes me stress! and in Lollipop the message is not the only thing with Orange.

I can't use the stock app because I intuitively want to swipe messages to delete them like in every other Google app. But I keep calling people. Horrible design choice Samsung.

While I don't mind the orange any more than the boring teal, I use the stock messaging app because it is fully functional with multi-window multi-tasking, one of the most powerful features of the Note 4. I much prefer EvolveSMS but it doesn't support the multi-window function of the Note 4. Why pay the price of the Note 4 and then use apps that don't allow one to utilize it to its full extent?
Are any of the other messaging apps you folks are using that are fully compatible with the multi-window feature of the Note 4?

just use another sms app Google messenger is by far the best one that i've played with so far clean and easy.

I had to stop using Google Messenger, it's what I prefer but I found a bug. I chose a recipient, write a message and after sending it says I sent it to someone else in my contacts. Both people got the message and replied. I had to uninstall, for now I'm using Hangouts.

Just got my update to Lollipop. Anyone know if there's a way to change this horrible orange on the message app?

I found that on my Galaxy S6 that changing my whole device "theme" also changed the ugly orange in messaging app...then I just went and changed my wallpaper back to what I wanted. Hope this helps.

I don't think we can change the device them on the Notes, unless I am not seeing it :'(

I switched to Google Messenger and Textra. Both are pretty good that it's hard to chose sometimes. If Google Messenger and Textra were to combine it'd be almost the perfect SMS app imo.

I just got Lollipop yesterday on my Note 4, I'm liking it ok so far... but I'm glad I found this thread because I had to get rid of that eye sore orange! I downloaded Textra and will try it out, so far so good. Thanks!
