Uh-oh, foggy lens problem?

I don't trust iPhoneArena when it comes to android news. They usually exaggerate anything against Android and they have that reputation.

They got bad enough they censored the term iphonearena from their comment section. When Apple and Samsung do the same thing they praise Apple and bash Samsung, have done so for years.

Mr Sugendus... you in Florida?? That's the way it's here too. Never on my phones either. Try spending a hour or two in an ice rink down here (guessing 50 degrees) and then step out in 90 degree outside afterwards. If you're wearing glasses, you are immediately blinded in fog one foot out the door.

I wonder... I wonder it the S20 Ultra camera module is sealed airtight. If so, maybe that's what's caused those accounts of imploding and cracking cameras covers due to atmospheric pressure changes and maybe they did a design change to combat that.

Just have to wait until it's really released and in more peoples hands to see.

Try shooting a concert in MN during winter months. I've had the lens of my Nikon DSLR completely fog over and become unusable numerous times when I go outside to get fresh air and cool off then go back inside. Difference in temperature can easily be over 70 degrees.

"The post explains that the phenomenon occurs when the phone experiences temperature changes, such as taking it indoors from a hot summer day to an air-conditioned building"

This is the part that makes this article lose credibility to me. Would fogging happen when going from cold to hot not hot to cold?

So, no one has ever had their windows fog up in their car or house? Why is this an issue?

This is from the blog post, translated from Korean, seems to be Samsungs response. It wouldn't let me copy text so I did a screen shot.

I think people are concerned about this because the fogging is on the interior of the protective glass which means moisture is inside near the board. IF this is an issue then the whole IP68 rating is kind of moot. With that said, there are videos out where the note20 ultra was submerged for over an hour and there was no issue with water ingress so I have to conclude that this is really a one off situation

Google translate is a bit goofy but I believe the issue goes away after a few minutes.

I also noticed several people asking permission to repost the photos and very importantly no one mentions how much temperature change there was and if this phone sat directly in front of an air conditioner or not.

I didn't preorder but I wouldn't be worried over an individual report if I had.

Saturday Aug 15th 330 pm update Note 20 ultra 5g fog worries

I spoke to, well, chatted with Samsung around noon today.

The rep asked his tech team, and they all replied the USA phones arriving, are perfectly normal.

He said the USA models have been tested over and over.

He said there would have been an immediate recall on them, as they
do not want another Note7-Gate on their hands.

Well the you know the YouTubers will be on this and test it out under attic conditions and such. Hopefully before deadline to return is a real issue and wait for the iPhone 12 ;)

This is more important than whether it or not the glass passes the number 6 pick.

Same phone and photos already being discussed, this is spreading like wildfire despite missing important details or evidence of how it happened.

Looking at that thumbnail on that YouTube video, it looks like there is probably more liquid behind those lenses than in those copper cooling tubes in the phone LOL.

Gotta love the youtuber mentioning that the Note has just been released and major problems are starting to pop up.

Being that those reports are from European phones, if real, I hope it’s only with the Exynos models (Sorry Exynos owners for that comment)... High temps inside the phone along with cold temps outside causing condensation in the phone to show at the lenses??

Android Central will probably be picking up this story soon.

Their editors with review units should be tossing their review units in the frig and then going outside to see for themselves and report back to us. ;)
