UI 7 Things You Like / Dislike

Count me among the confused that Samsung would deem the new battery icon an improvement compared to the old one.

I'm also disappointed in how they limited the ability to sort the app drawer. It's great that there's now vertical scrolling in addition to the horizontal scrolling we're all used to. But they tied the selection to the sort function. So if you want your apps in alphabetical order, your only option is vertical scrolling. If you want horizontal scrolling, your only option is "custom order". You are not able to use horizontal scrolling with the apps alphabetized. That ability has been removed with this update.

I'm sure a lot of this gets sorted out over time.

Speaking of icons, why is the location icon constantly at the top of the status bar? Doesn't look like a way to remove that. I checked all permissions for apps and don't see one that is actually using a location.

Yeah just added a battery widget to my Fold home

What battery widget is that?

Anyone seeing the lock screen bug that does not allow you to unlock your phone? I read this morning that they halted the update because of this bug.

Lots of news spreading fast about the worldwide pause of the update. The articles I've read indicate there's a bug in the update that prevents users from unlocking their phones.

As a side note, this is the last time I will install a major update like this without first waiting 30 days after its release.

Two quick questions. First, I installed the update yesterday (Sunday) and, at least so far, I have not experienced the bug. I have been able to unlock my phone. Does anyone know if the bug manifests itself immediately upon installing the update, or is it something that can still occur sometime later after you have installed it and started out being able to unlock your phone without a problem? Second, would you expect that turning off one's screenlock (fingerprints, pins, etc) would be an interim work around? In other words, if the bug prevents you from unlocking your phone, does simply keeping it unlocked serve as a temporary work-around for those that have the update?

This is an important moment for Samsung. It's technology and s*** happens (I won't comment on the numerous beta releases and why this is so surprising and disappointing). At this point, it's all about how Samsung deals with it. If they're truly on top of it and roll out a patch within 24 hours, then they would at least be appropriately responsive to the urgent issue they caused. If this goes on longer than that, the anger and frustration will build, and that will hurt the company.

So Samsung, if you're listening, take this moment and use it as an opportunity to shine by resolving this as quickly as it's been discovered.

as I said somewhere else, Samsung really rearranged the furniture with this one. not the big stuff, but enough of the little stuff everywhere that I keep knocking things over. I'll get by, but it's just so many little things. still not sure why Samsung did all of this. and fwiw, the bride is very displeased with the battery pill notification. I had to make her agree to lose something on her home page so I could put a battery widget on there. 😂

I read on Reddit that it maybe people who use Swiftkey as their default keyboard that is causing the issue with unlocking their phones.

Either I’m on shrooms or the update has removed trusted devices from extend unlock. I see the on-body detection option, and the trusted places option, but I no longer see the trusted devices option. Verizon, S24 Plus.
