Last night, my phone synced its last native sync at about 6:10 pm, and has not synced since. When I go to menu>settings>accounts and sync> and try to refresh and sync stuff, nothing happens. The button turns green, then nothing. Not even backup assistant works. Other things seem fine, comcast email, yahoo email. In addition, I am getting a low on space message, however, my internal phone storage reads as 6.60GB total space, 6.43GB available. Phone memory reads 748MB total space, 577MB available. Also, Google Talk will not load. I touch the shortcut (or the app in the app drawer), the screen flashes, and then nothing happens. I got it to work once today, after a battery pull, and then it stopped working.

Things I have tried so far: power cycle, battery pull, go to best buy, go to Verizon store. They recommended to do a factory data reset. How do I go about this, besides the factory reset button in the settings menu?

Thanks!

Before you take the drastic step of a hard reset, go into settings> applications> manage applications, Along the top you'll see the option to view all applications, press it. Then hit menu > sort by size. Your biggest memory hogs will be on top.

Touch them one by one and clear their caches. When you get down to where you're not clearing much, exit and reboot. Problem fixed?

If not, do the same thing, but go specifically to your email application. If you're using the stock application its called simply "Mail". Try clearing the cache and data. Exit and reboot. Problem fixed?

If not, it may be time to do a master reset / factory reset. Use Backup Assistant to backup what you can (assuming you're not rooted, in which case you'd use titanium backup). And then reset.

Hope this helps!

Thanks for the help on the clearing the cache on the mail app. Do you know why this happens? I keep getting the low memory message and I've been deleting my contacts (which are backed up, but it gets annoying to redo the links and stuff), but this time I tried this solution and the message went right away. I do wonder why my memory is low when the cache was only at 1.05 MB...

Well that worked for 2 minutes...the message came back on. Had to delete my contacts, which got up to 23 MB...that's a lot, right? Why does it do that. I had my contacts syncing to gmail, fb for HTC Sense, and Twitter only. It's getting really annoying...

I had an app that was caught in an update loop and was hemorrhaging memory, and causing conflicts. I deleted the app (Dolphin BrowserHD) and all is well. I am going to make sure it doesn't happen again, then add dolphon browser back in. The native internet browser sucks...

I stopped using the stock email client and have used K-9 for months. No memory issues at all as long as you empty the trash occasionally.

I don't use the stock email client, just gmail, so I don't even know why deleting the cache on the stock mail client did anything.

Also, I tried Dolphin and it's ok, but the stock browser works great for me! I didn't even try that first and went straight to Dolphin after reading up, but now I'm hooked on the stock, can't get any better.

Your not running any type of app task killer are you ?

...If so remove it and see how it goes . ;)

I am not running any type of task-killer. I do however have watchdog, but it doesn't do anything unless I manually input something, so that shouldn't be doing much...
