Unable to Activate

Received my unlocked NEXUS 6 today from Amazon, as well as my Project Fi SIM card and a welcome kit. Before I put the SIM card in the phone, the phone updated to Android 5.0 than a second update to 5.1 and than again to 5.1.1 I than installed the project Fi SIM turned the phone on and it wanted to update to a different 5.1.1 build, after that I launched the Fi app and tried to activate the service I received an error stating that the SIM had locked, and to restart the phone, it also said if this continues to call customer service, which it did and so I called customer service told them about the error I was getting and they told me that the Sprint network was having a known issue and they opened up a case for higher support and told me it could be 24 to 48 hours before this is resolved its been 4 hours since I first started to you try the activation and I cannot activate the phone.

Just an update, I am receiving both T-Mobile and Sprint and a good WiFi signal, but I still cannot fully activate service. I am still waiting for the escalation department to call me back. I turned wifi off and tried to activate but still get a bunch of errors but I was able to get some data on the T-Mobile Edge network, I was able to send a text message to another cell phone on another carrier but cannot receive any incoming texts nor make or receive phone calls. Here is an email I received from Project Fi support:

Thank you for contacting Project Fi Support! I am sorry to hear you are experiencing issue activating the Project Fi service. We somehow got disconnected. I tried calling you several times and I left a voice message.

As I mentioned over the phone, I do see that you are affected by the outage we are currently experiencing at this time. I will escalate this up to our specialist. We will respond to you once we hear from them.

It was a pleasure assisting you. If you have any other questions, you can contact the Project Fi team directly at any time. Please reply to this e-mail and we'll get back to you as soon as possible!

Sounds like things are progressing as they should considering whatever technical difficulties they are having on their end. I've had phones on VZW that took 24 hrs to fully activate back when the iPhone first came there. I wouldn't worry too much it'll probably be up and running fully in a few hours.

Well everything works except when I am on Sprints network I cannot make any out going calls at all, incoming calls are fine send and receiving text messages is fine and even data, if I am on wifi and/or T-Mobile I can make out going calls with no problem, I been on the phone with fi support and they so far have been useless, I have asked for a supervisor and they cannot get me one, they don't seem to understand the issue, because my phone connected to T-Mobile and I could make a call and they said ok your problem is resolved, um no, let me walk to the other side of the house and my phone will switch to Sprint and I won't be able to make calls again, but they either don't believe me or are incompetent.

Just spent an hour on the phone with Project Fi support a complete waste of my time again, they gave me two codes to enter into my phone that they said would fix any issue with Sprint tried both codes still cannot make out going calls on sprint, after all that fell back to we will look into it and get back to you in 24 to 48 hours same as I was told yesterday.

Day 3 and still cannot make out going calls, Project Fi support continues to tell me to reset my phone and Project Fi app which had been done over and over again at their direction, but they still haven't figured out its a problem with them and Sprint not my phone, Cancelling service today...................

I live in Clover, SC just outside of Charlotte, NC. I was told they kept escalating the issue but never seemed to follow back up, this morning I told them I was going to cancel and 30 minutes later they fixed it. Glad it is working I just hope no one else goes through this, this issue was something between Sprint and Fi, just a reminder of why I never liked Sprint because of their network unfortunately their signal is better at my house than T-Mobile, but T-Mobile just applied recently for permits to build a tower a few blocks away from my home, so I see good things in the future and I am going to give Fi another chance and stick with it for now.

If you haven't cancelled yet, in project fi app, in support tab is 'join Google+ project fi community' better support than first tier phone support.
