Has anyone been able to add a custom tone to their SMS notifications? I've been able to add my custom ringtone, but have had no luck doing the same for SMS?

Make sure you put the notification sound file in /mnt/sdcard/media/audio/notifications

also make sure it is a compatible file format.

most sound file formats should work. mp3, wav, ogg, etc.

save your files in one of the following directories:

Music/ - Media scanner classifies all media found here as user music.
Podcasts/ - Media scanner classifies all media found here as a podcast.
Ringtones/ - Media scanner classifies all media found here as a ringtone.
Alarms/ - Media scanner classifies all media found here as an alarm sound.
Notifications/ - Media scanner classifies all media found here as a notification sound.
Pictures/ - All photos (excluding those taken with the camera).
Movies/ - All movies (excluding those taken with the camcorder).
Download/ - Miscellaneous downloads.

Lightflow!
I'm not sure how anyone lives (kidding) without a combination of custom ringtone, plus LED color, plus vibration pattern for SMS messages.
I am a super-enthusiast of this app, though, and the developer is about as responsive as you could hope.

Lightflow lets you use ringtones for SMS notifications, as well.

I'm using Total commander to browse the Note but I don't see a .\mnt\....\media folder to copy the file to.

How to Change Galaxy Fame SMS Tones.

Hi
Being a Novice i was bored with the basic tones on my phone so having connected my phone to my pc i explored the folders and found NOTIFICATIONS so i dragged and dropped my favourite Music/Tones into this folder and Yippeee i now have a wider range of sound for my SMS messages.
For Ringtones just add to your Ringtones Folder EASY.....
Hope this helps

This is the easiest way to do it. connect your GS3 phone to a computer or laptop. Once it's hooked up you'll have the option that says "Open folder to view files". Once you click on that option, you'll see two icons, one will say "Card" and the other will say "Phone". Click on Phone. Once you click on Phone another set of options will open up. The folder that you will be looking for is called "Notifications". It's in this folder that you can add music to it. Copy and paste music from any of your files to this folder. Once you disconnect the phone from the comp or laptop, the music you added will be available to be used as text message ringtones. Hope everyone is doing well

ummm, Tonepicker not working on my HTC One, it's crashing. Even if it didn't crash every time, I don't think it's deigned to let you choose a different ringtone for each person, which is what I want.
