Unable to pair bluetooth with PC but works with airpods

I have Samsung A12 with Android 13. I have consistently had problems pairing my phone with the my Lenovo desktop. I was advised to delete bluetooth cache but that is greyed out. Similarly I can pair the desktop with my airpods but not with the phone. The phone is showing in Desktop bluetooth devices and the desktop is showing in the A12 as a bluetooth available device but when I try to pair from the phone it just goes in a loop, asking on the desktop whether the passkey is the same (I say yes), I go to pair on the phone and I am told 'couldn't pair'. I have restarted both PC and phone but nothing works.

Does the PC support the BT profile needed for a phone? (Different that the one used for headphones and/or a headset like the Airpods).
