Unfortunately android wear has stopped

It looks as though there is a death sentence for the moto 360 if you see this screen. The device becomes non responsive and you can't get to hard reset to fix the problem.

Had anybody seen this screen? After looking around it seems quite a common problem and people are having to send in their 360 for repair as the only way to fix the problem and I have just seen this screen on my 360. Nothing I have done can resolve this issue

Everyone needs to watch out for this because I had just spoken to moto support and they said it needed to be sent in as a fault but this is a software fault and there is no way to resolve as you can't touch the screen to factory reset the device. This is extremely poor and I'm not happy with this at all. This is a known problem from reading on forums and sending for repair is the only way to resolve this issue.

Oddly enough, I have been experiencing this issue on three different Android Wear watches (an original LG G Watch, a Moto 360, & a Asus ZenWatch) ever since upgrading the watches to 5.1.1.

Occasionally, maybe once a week, I'll get either the "unfortunately Android Wear has stopped" message or "unfortunately Google Play services has stopped" message on each of the smartwatches. In my case, however, each watch is still responsive and I can simply tap "OK" and reboot the watch. Upon reboot, the watch operates normally again for a while. Not sure what is triggering it, but it definitely is not exclusive to the Moto 360.

Interesting that this happens on other watches...

On my moto 360, it becomes completely unusable. You can reboot it by long pressing the button but the error still remains once it reboots. The touch screen becomes unresponsive so you can't navigate to do a factory reset via settings - it's extremely worrying as a simple Google search shows others with this issue . It looks like a software issue but one that can't be resolved at all. I've sent it back for repair but I can't see how it can be repaired... I will probably receive am exchanged device within 28 days

Hopefully they just replace your watch and send you a new one.

Best of luck!

Has anyone had luck getting them to replace the watch?

I had this issue and it can't be resolved by the user I tried everything. I did send it back for repair through the retailer that sold me the product and they sent it back within 7 days and fixed the issue. They didn't specify how it just shows "software update" on the list of repair reasons. Good luck if this has happened to you

I found workaround for this issue. if you go to the droid wear app on your phone and disable notifications from system ui you can navigate to settings and do factory reset which resolves the issue

Did exchanging your moto 360 solve the issue? I ask because it's happening to mine and I'm wondering if I should sent it back or not.

Did exchanging your moto 360 solve the issue?

The only solution was to send it back for repair which was done in 1 week under warranty (I'm in the UK) . It fixed the issue. It said on the repair notes they had to perform a manual software upgrade so it was a software issue. Hope this helps

I think I got a dud as well. Just got it yesterday. Won't re-connect to my phone if my Bluetooth connects to my car radio and then I leave my car. Play has stopped. Very disappointed.

Just got this dreaded error! Tried everything to fix. Even tried to factory reset but every time I select that option, it just reset the phone and its still activated!

Called Motorola and they are going to do a warranty replacement for me! ugh

i finally got out of the loop. uncheck the notifications option in the android wear app (in settings) and then remove the app entirely. this allowed me to reset the watch.

I've had this happen to me a couple times in the past 3 days but I'm able to hit ok a day everything goes back to normal on mine?

TL;DR: read the My Hamfisted Fix bit.

So I had this problem around the same time as you fine folks seemed to be suffering from it. First gen 360 which I had unpaired from a note 3 as the phone was destined for immediate factory resetting. I completely failed to notice the error on my watch before doing this and; Derp! Android Wear has stopped responding and has to close. Stuck on Minimal & Elegant face, I'm sure unrelated as those cats are amazing.

I tried for days/weeks to fix the issue trawling all the forums looking for a purely hardware method of factory resetting and eventually gave up, even having little luck with Moto support as the watch was second hand. To be fair this was mostly my own laziness rather than a lack of support. In the end I surrendered and bought a second one. Always wondered how the silver one was anyway..

My Hamfisted Fix:
Some months later I pulled the totally dead 360 out of a drawer and charged it back up to 100%. Half remembering a post relating to manipulating the menus even if they didn't seem to work in order to get to factory reset, I tried swiping to get into the settings screen which prompted the menu and an immediate crash. Par for the course so far.

So I hit the button to lock the screen and again to unlock, swiped left and immediately tapped the area I knew should activate settings. After a good few tries it finally popped me right into settings and into the brightness menu (due to double tapping). Swiped right to go back and had access to the settings without any/much crashing. From there I disabled all comms (WiFi etc) and repeated the process until I was able to select factory reset.

Initially this just powered off the watch but after a few tries (bearing in mind it was fully charged) it conked out during the android animation, restarted and came back with a fresh install. Never been so excited to see Hello in so many languages (and to go back to a black watch!)

Apologies for the novel, this has been bugging me for months and if it saves anyone else some hassle, then it was worth writing! Been wearing two 360's all day and I don't even care who laughs
