Mine does this as well. I had tmobile back up and factory reset my device. Didn't resolve. So they sent me a replacement device saying it was hardware malfunction. Got my new device yesterday and it was working great but it's doing all the same things again.
Galaxy note 4 here.
This must be a software issue. Whether it's android or Samsung I have no idea. It didn't start until the recent lollipop update on my previous device. I think they need to look more into this though it's quite repetitive and obnoxious.

Hi, i had the same problem with my keyboard not letting me enter any txt, i did what you suggest, going in settings, application manager...i found samsung keyboard and did clear data and it worked again, thanks a lot.

I did as suggested and cleared the cache and is back to normal. Gracias !!

Try this: Go to Settings / Application manager. Scroll right to the "All" tab. Scroll down until you find Samsung keyboard, and tap on that row. Than tap on Clear Data. Let us know what happens.

Try that already and had no luck any other ideas

I have no option on my samsung galaxy 3 for any keyboard app - just galaxy apps in general.
