Hey guys-- quick question. I'm not rooted, I have not flashed any custom roms or anything like that. I have a Evo Shift and just downloaded the Gingerbread update. If I wanted to go back to Froyo- is there a way I can do this?

I'm pretty sure that until the bootloader for the Gingerbread update is unlocked, there is no way to revert back to Froyo.

If you have no desire to root your phone then I think you be more than happy with update.

I just installed the Gingerbread update today. After I installed it, I tried to type out a text message to a friend of mine. There are right at 400 messages between us on my phone. Anyways, I would be typing out the text and my phone would randomly jump to the very first text I sent my friend using my phone. I would then have to scroll all the way through all 400 messages to get back to the one I was trying to respond to. I would start typing the text out and it would randomly jump again! I have an HTC Evo Shift 4G by the way. Could this text message jump problem be caused by the Gingerbread update, or is it caused by something else? If it is caused by the Gingerbread update, could I take my phone to a Sprint store and have them uninstall the Gingerbread update and revert my phone back to Froyo (I'm guessing that was the previous software base)?

I don't think that Gingerbread is the cause of your frustration. My unrooted, unaltered, unscrewedaroundwith Shift was always doing the same thing during text messages. It would also get the individual texts out of order if they were both sent during the same minute.

I could fill this forum with the goofy **** my dumb smartphone has done.

Can you delete the thread? Or backup to the SD card? If so, back up the sms messages to the SD, then delete the thread on your phone. Hope it works for you.
