Uninstall or turn off Gmail app?

I like using the Samsung Email app, but I get notifications from both Samsung Email and the Gmail app and I can't stand the cartoony gmail app.
How can I uninstall or turn off the gmail app?

Two ways to do this. Go to settings -accounts. Click on google- sync uncheck Gmail sync. Alternately go to settings-apps- browse to Gmail and click on disable. It will revert to the factory version by uninstalling any updates u made and stay disabled.

You can also turn off notifications within the Gmail app.
