Uninstalled app left blank icon on lock screen shortcuts...(+WiFi issues)

Hi
Loving my HTC One so far but I've come across one or two issues though, the first is re: the lockscreen icons;

I set up my wallpaper lockscreen with it's four icons and all was good. However, I uninstalled one of them ( a dialer app) and now it's left one of those little green android icons in its place. When I swipe it upwards, it just unlocks the phone. I can't seem to change any of these these icons at all....tried Personalize>Lockscreen Style>Settings and the popup is just 'Use Home Wallpaper' or Custom Wallpaper...no way to change the shortcut icons though!! What am I doing wrong here...looking in the wrong place?

The other issue I've got is the WiFi switching itself off randomly when phone's been locked for a while....I have to disable then re-enable Wifi to connect to my home wifi....I've had a bit of a dig about on this issue but found nothing to help so far...any ideas?

Thx for any help

To change lock screen shortcuts you have to do it while the app drawer is open. Yeah it's odd but that's how it is.

As for the WiFi issue, try Settings>WiFi>Advanced> then set "Keep Wi-Fi on during sleep" to Always or Only when plugged in.

Please elaborate - I have a similar issue and would like to fix it. I have a shortcut for Business Calendar image in the dock which is always replaced by the green Android guy in the lockscreen.

Me too.....

I'm an only-ever Android smart phone user...but this is stumping me! Gawd knows what it must be like for an iPhone refugee!!!

The app drawer is the screen with the clock and weather at the top. When on the top most page, u can pull down to display Search, Store and change the Apps sort between alphabetical, custom and most recent. This is the page you want to be on to be able to change the apps/icons in your lock screen shortcuts

Thanks, but I still am not sure what you're referring to as the app drawer. I thought that was the listing of all apps or widgets you get to from the circle with dots in the center of the dock.

The lock screen shortcuts are the apps you have on the dock! The only way to change what is on the dock is to open the app drawer and drag and drop what you want on the dock! Once you set up your dock, those are the apps that show on the lockscreen! You cannot have different apps on the dock and lockscreen!

Thanks for your help guys...sorted now ;)
My problem was compounded by the fact I use Nova Launcher....I removed defaults from it, and hit the Home icon, went into the App drawer as you said and did the shortcuts in there, then re-enabled Nova as my default launcher.

thanks again...(now, if only I could get this wifi sorted, I'd be a happy bunny....)

Obviously there is a confusion of terminology. The dock is the bar across the bottom of the screen containing five icons and is persistent across every screen on the phone interface, that is the lockscreen, homescreens and the app drawer. The app drawer is where you will see your list of installed apps.

To change the apps on the dock, open the app drawer (centre icon on the dock, 3x3 grid of dots). From here it is all simply drag and drop. There can only be five icons on the dock and one of those is always the app drawer/home screen toggle, but you can change the other four for whatever you like. If you want to remove an icon from the dock simply drag it back into the app drawer, then you can drag something else into the empty space. If you drag an app onto another app on the dock it will automatically create a folder, just like on the home screen.

What you have done is uninstalled an app that had its icon on the dock, so the icon is still there but the system does not know what app it relates to and is just displaying a standard icon. Drag it off into the app drawer and it will disappear. The same thing happens with widgets when you uninstall an app, the placeholder remains but the widget contains no data, just delete it as you would any other widget. Easy peasy.

This was very helpful. My issue involved Business Calendar, which I had installed AFTER I tried Business Calendar Free. The icon was probably for the Uninstalled Free version. I uninstalled both, reinstalled the paid version, and now all's good!

Thanks!!
