Unlimited 4g ending Thursday?

Well I bought my thunderbolt this afternoon and they had no problem activating it. I did not want to risk of verizon getting rid of unlimited data tomorrow so I bought it today.

I think it's the whole system as well. I just went to Verizon to see if they had any Thunderbolt accessories and they said the entire POS (point of sale) system was down so they couldn't sell anything.

Yup. They might be able to activate phones, but they sure as hell can't ring them up.

So, I have a Thunderbolt that was delivered tonight at 7 pm. And yep, can't get it activated. IF this happens to be a true statement on the unlimited 4G ending, and IF I can't get through until tomorrow with the system being down, am I in on Unlimited 4G because of date/time of sale? Or no, because it isn't activated. And this is my first Smartphone, so unfortunately, I don't have an existing 3G plan.

If you're concerned, I would print a receipt and copy of payment to show that you purchased and technically owned the phone before the date of them changing the policy. They should then honor the policy since it was their fault you couldn't activate it.

Would they even be able to? The system might not let them...

I have a friend who works at Verizon, and have heard nothing about this except through you guys. I have a TB under a No contract plan, and have the unlimited data. I sure as hell hope they dont switch it for people like me, who want to save the upgrade. I would hope its as long as you have it on your plan, your grandfathered, until newer plans come out, i wont lose my unlimited data

I think the standard unlimited plan will be grandfathered. Maybe even stay the same. But I'll tell you something about the Mobile Hotspot - as most people here know already, it is free until May 15th. At first I thought Hot Dog! But now I realize that the reason it is free is probably because they don't know how they're gonna charge for it yet. I called yesterday and tried to sign-up right now for $20/mo and I was told that I can't buy it now I have to wait until I am "notified". I asked how I would be notified and the rep said, via a free text message when May 15th approaches. So it sounds clear to me that they don't want to be grandfathering any of us TBolt users into the Mobile Hotspot feature. :(

I was on the fence about getting an iPad 2 3G or just using my phone for this very reason. The rep said it was $20 a month for 2 gigs, but I know that that might change.

Your new contract does not take effect till the phone is activated. If Verizon changes their data policy before you activate the phone, you will be under the new policy. You could try to complain to someone at Verizon to try and get them to change it, but in my experience Verizon reps generally cannot make exceptions to corporate policy when it comes to the terms of your contract.

I just talked to CS about other things, and I asked about the mobile hot spot. He said they had a training while the system was down tonight, and the deal is that on May 15 the "feature" of mobile hot spot falls off your account. Then, if you try to activate a hot spot, a pop up will appear asking if you want to add that feature to your account, and the cost is $30/billing cycle for unlimited data. You can put this feature on and off of your account.

So..... It's Thursday and no announcement?

Well they didn't announce anything but...Data is broken for many of us at this time.

Soooo technically...no more unlimited 4g today! lol

Ive had nothing but 1x all morning.

Yea I had the same thing just got my 3gees back  who knows.... maybe they are changing the system... and who knows they might do something like keep unlimited data and just move the price point higher with a soft cap somewhere in there, where they will throttle you back.

Thats a really good idea set a limit and then kick you to 3g when you hit it... But still keep it unlimited and 30 bucks
