unlock failed when phone is asleep

So this has happened more and more often for me. I have pattern unlock set. What happens is my phone will be still on a table idle. Maybe " breathing " a little. I'll go over to unlock it to use it and as soon as I touch the screen to unlock it ( swipe down on the unlock icon) b4 anything else happens like the screen comes on and pattern unlock shows up it pops up with " try again in 30 sec " timer. Its happened at last twice a day now for a few weeks. Anyone have any suggestions? Thanks!

I don't have much of an idea, so guessing in the dark here. Have you installed any launchers, anti virus, or some app that may affect lockscreen and security? Have you rebooted your phone to try getting rid of the problem? Maybe try switching to an alternate option like pin unlock, then switch back to pattern.
