Unlock S8 EE Network Lock

[Android Central Question]

I hve just got my new galaxy s8 but unfortunately it is locked on EE UK carrier .Is there anway to unlock it without spending even a penny???

One item I read when I did the search is that the phone should be unlocked automatically at 18 months but that may be after 18 months on a plan with the carrier...

I once tried to unlock an EE phone. The online site said I needed to take it to an EE store. I did, where I was told that I needed to do it via their online site.
