Unlock

You'll have to pay for it.

I unlocked mine in the hopes that it would help me with a different problem, but it didn't.

The only way to unlock this phone to use with other carriers is to use the unlock code associated with it's imei number.

I tried the $.99 unlock from ebay that promises to unlock the LG Thrive. Went through the whole process of buying, etc. In 5 minutes I got an email saying that they couldn't do it and I got an instant refund.

I tried the $7.99 unlocker code from cellunlocker dot net. All done by email. They send you the code with instructions, although research how to use the code. They were a little off in that they made it more complicated than it had to be. But it worked great. The code was correct and now I have an ATT Lg thrive working an a T-mobile prepaid chip.;)

There were more expensive unlockers, but this was probably the cheapest company that worked.

Unlocking is for the sim. Ie. You could get a sim from a different carrier to use in your phone. Helps if you want to test drive before you commit.

Hello Guys,
I am new to system side of Android. I do have Motorola Atrix. Please redirects me to a bood post to know the difference of Unlock carrier and Unlock Bootloader. If I do bootloader unlocked, does it mean that my phone is carrier unlocked?

Thanks,
Paul

No. I believe that unlocking your bootloader only allows you to be able to flash a different recovery. There should be a thread here in AC for your phone. Also try XDA-DEVELOPERS.COM.
