My phone recently bricked and I'm debating whether or not to get a new phone. I've always enjoyed the HTC brand, but am disappointed to see that T-Mobile no longer appears to carry the device.

First: Is there anyone has good insight as to why T-Mobile is no longer carrying the device?
Second: If I were to get a phone direct from HTC, how does that affect my T-Mobile service? In the past there was discrepancy as to whether phones purchased outside of T-Mobile were able to do WI-FI calling, picture messaging, or take advantage of all possible cellular bands. Any thoughts?

I'm using an unlocked HTC 10 on T-Mobile right now. Everything works fine, including Wi-Fi calling.

If this is the case, would there be any advantage to buying your phone through T-Mobile?

There is no advantage to buy through T-Mobile as far as I can tell. The advantage to buying through HTC is that it does not come with T-Mobile bloatware...and possibly receive quicker updates because they will be direct from HTC.

Yeah, definitely no advantages to buying from T-Mobile. Also, I believe T-Mobile has stopped selling the 10 for the most part. Either way, the unlocked version will have less bloat and work just as well if not better on the T-Mobile network.

Been running an unlocked on T-Mobile since launch, and have had no issues at all.

Thank you to everyone for the affirmative feedback. How do things like WI-FI calling or T-Mobile Visual Voicemail work on an unlocked device? Furthermore, how does Binge On or Music Freedom options work? A T-Mobile branded device doesn't influence these options, correct?

Correct. All of the above features that you've mentioned work on my unlocked model.

I'm not sure how Wi-Fi calling works since I don't use it, but everyone else with an unlocked says its fine.
I just downloaded the T-mobile account App and T-Mobile visual voicemail app, and those work fine.
And I have binge on turned off in my account settings, so I can't help with that.

Quick question, would I just swap the SIM card from my T-Mobile M8 into a new 10 or do I have to get a new one from T-Mobile?

Thanks

I am about to purchase an Unlocked or T-Mobile HTC 10 on htc.com and wanted to ask you few questions, so if any of you will be able to help, that would be really appreciated.

1) Any one has Bluetooth range issue, meaning that when using Bluetooth headset to make calls and although you are pretty close to your phone, but you hear popping/crackling noise?
2) When phone sitting idle and connected to WiFi, does it happen when you pick it up the phone, it may still be connected to WiFi, but have no internet connection?
3) Sometimes when talking on the phone normally without any headsets, does it happen that a person on the other line doesn't hear you at times as if microphone stops functioning?
4) In the settings>backup & reset, the "backup account" is grayed out and can't be selected. Any one has seen this?

Thanks!
