Unlocked vs. T-Mobile?

I prefer unlocked myself, my Note 20 Ultra is unlocked. But I don't recall having to pay more for unlocked in the past. This year the way Samsung is working it, I get $200 more trade-in credit if I choose the T-Mobile variant. There's also a $50 credit for online activation, so it's about $250 total cheaper to stick with the T-Mobile version. I want unlocked, but not sure it's worth $250 lol. More confusion for me since I'm still deciding on whether or not it's a worthy upgrade in general

If you don't plan on leaving T-mobile anytime soon, order the T-mobile variant. That was my justification. I don't see myself going back to Verizon or AT&T. So, I'd rather err on the side of caution.

Visual Voicemail app works on any version.
But Visual Voicemail from the dialer app is what sometimes only works on carrier versions of devices.

Samys only offering $370 plus $200 credit for my Note 20. I'll take the $1k credit from Tmo. Otherwise I'd prefer unlocked too

Last 2 years it’s been impossible to unlock a t-Mobile branded phone that’s bought on Samsung .com But with that said if your intentions is to just trade it in next year then you probably won’t have the need to unlock it. So going for the higher trade in credit is probably the better move

Same.... Not leaving TMO and I'll probably trade in my S22U back to Samsung when the S23U comes out...hahaha.

Plus they give you another 50 off for activating the phone through Samsung (new sim)....Win....win....Wooo!!

Everyone has to do what is best for them. . I prefer unlocked version less bloat. I have an unlocked note 20 ultra working fine on T mobile. I have 2 so I traded my older note 20 ultra, from release day. For 600 on Samsung. Com. Got 250 credit for S22 accessories. Got additional 150 off. From Sammy credit I had. Got 77 off for healthcare credit. Pd 700 for unlocked sky blue 512 model. I am happy.
