Unlocked phone on Cricket, how do I get operating system updates?

I have an unlocked ATT Note5 that I'm using on Cricket and have not received one update since I've had it. When I check for updates it's telling me the phone is up to date but I know that it is not.

If I switch from Cricket and subscribe to ATT for a month would I be able to download the latest system updates?

Go to sammobile and dial in the model number in software. You'll see the latest version there.

This should work. You could get a prepaid AT&T SIM card. I'm not sure if using Odin to flash the firmware from SamMobile will work, since I've heard that AT&T phones are notorious for not cooperating with Odin, but you could always try it: http://forums.androidcentral.com/am...w-flash-stock-rom-via-odin-new-interface.html

That might help if I knew who Odin was and if I knew what it means to flash a ROM

There's a link in my previous post describing what Odin is and how to use it to reinstall firmware (aka the ROM) on a phone. It's essentially the system software. If you're uncomfortable with that, then go with the prepaid AT&T SIM card idea.
