unlocked samsung galaxy s3 no sim

i got a unlocked at&t samsung s3 but it wont recognize my other sim card it says no sim but i have a signal

it is a sgh-1747 running on jellybean,4.1.1 baseband version 1747ucdlk3 but my other sim works on my other phone not on my s3

Im in UK mate where things work really differently but hopefuly someone can tell you what carrier will work on it, even if its only 3g.
