Unlocked vs Carrier

Question; I purchased the unlocked 10+ and added the Verizon sim at checkout. Help me see if I understand this correctly.
1) Use Samung supplied Verizon sim & pay $40 activation fee?
2) Use my existing sim in my Note 9 and just swap w/o the $40 charge?

TIA
You shouldn't pay either way based on what I'm hearing for the unlocked model but I didn't order a Verizon SIM. I'm using my old SIM which is a definite.

I've been reading a bunch of different places where they call up Verizon and get them to waive the activation fee. Maybe I'm missing something, but it's $50 cheaper to get it through Best Buy if you get it activated. Then, call up Verizon and ask them as a courtesy to waive the $40 activation fee. That way you get the phone $50 cheaper straight out. It's $1,099 without activation vs $1,049 with activation.

That's a good point, will they waive it though?

Side note: If you activate the included sim your carrier will most likely charge you an activation fee. Just swap your current sim instead. Hit skip no matter the carrier you use.

With my luck my sim from s8+ and sd card will not fit in 10+.🤔

I'm pretty sure the 8+ has the same Nano SIM. If you're a longtime customer I'd try & get a new SIM for free later on. Ask them or if you're getting one in your order, activate way later. Worth a try.

I don't see why not. A ton of people have gotten it waived and I've been late a few times and gotten the $5 late fee taken off. People who have done it just say they were friendly to the sales rep and even a few mentioning doing it as a courtesy especially if you've been with them awhile. :)

Hey if you can save that 50 or 40 dollars I definitely all for that .

Honestly, I think everyone should do this because in reality, it's just what they call an "administrative fee" which is BS considering how much money we pay them every month. lol Like they don't get enough from us already throughout years of service.

You got that right.

I hear you on that , sometimes though they follow through with company policy and will enforce it.

With my Note 9, I tried & tried (AT$T) but could only get them to drop $20.00 off. Better than nothing though. When I bought a mobile Hotspot, I *was* able to get the $45.00 activation fee totally waived. It depends on who you get when you call...

Who was that through.....Verizon?

Even if it doesn't fit sim cards are free at Verizon store I believe. Just go in and ask for a SIM card and they should give you one. At least last month I was able to walk in and get a sim card free of cost.

Samsung to Nano SIM after the S5

Just to clear up the confusion for anyone. If you are purchasing the unlocked version and choose to get a Verizon sim unactivated from Samsung they will not charge you an activation fee. I always get a sim when ordering should anything be defective with current sim as it keeps me away from the store and a rep accidentally taken away my coveted unlimited data plan.20190811_042032.jpeg

Why would you pay for something that Google gives you for free with Google Voice?

Thanks for the hint! I'm on Verizon for years and for the first time I ordered the unlocked version with the Verizon SIM. Right now the Verizon call spam blocker/call filter works pretty well, any idea if this will work on the unlocked phone as well? Does Google Voice has something similar?

Hello, I'am thinking about ordering the N10+, seen that I get a larger trade in value for my N9 if I ordered the unlocked version. I currently have a At&t and unlocked version N9 connected on my At&t service. The unlocked version gets none of the at&t enhanced features, so my worry is the unlocked N10+ will not be able to get these features. I've been read through this thread that I might be able to flash those features to the phones, correct?
Also, to throw a little twist into it, I may be looking into switching to TMobile. So, if I were to switch would the features TMobile offer (wifi calling, VoLTE, Hotspot, etc.) work on the unlock phone without flashing?
From reading all of these post- Verizon & Tmo automatically allow there enhanced features on unlocked phones, At&t does not
