Unlocked vs Carrier

Then what are benefits of buying an unlocked phone lol
Not having carrier crap, the ugly boot screen, modified carrier firmware. I like my phones the way Samsung intended and not the way carriers want. Obviously majority people don't care and perfectly fine with carrier versions.

And on the update front as well finally looks like Samsung has made some improvements on pushing updates to US unlocked model. Looks like they are no longer bending over backwards to carriers and hold up updates on unlocked model. The updates are coming in fast to the unlocked model now on Note 10.

I never really travel outside the US so I don't need an unlocked phone. And only time I do which is rare maybe like once a year Verizon offers completely free Mexico roaming. I used it twice before and not a problem.

The thing I don't like about Google[] is that once you get outside their core of search and email services, they treat everything else like a pet project run by a celebrity that gets bored after a short time and moves on. [...] I like Google voice to a degree, but I don't feel like I can fully rely or trust in it because I just know they're going to pull the rug out from under all of us one day[.]
Google has supported Google Voice for more than a decade, almost as long as Gmail.
