My apologies for a slight hijack, but what does the Google messaging app do that the stock Samsung app does not? I'm unlocked on VZW.

It has RCS baked in. Samsung Messages sometimes has it, but it is or was carrier dependent.

When using GM, as long as the person(s) you are texting are also using it AND have chat enabled within the settings, it won't matter if all of you are on multiple different carriers. You all get to enjoy an iMessage like experience with typing indicator, reacting to messages, and the best part is high-res videos and pictures sent to each other.

Thanks for this. I was about to ask why GMessages doesn't look any different? I mean, I've noticed little tweaks, but the feature where they show being able to pull down the threads like on the Samsung Messages app (for better one-handed operation) doesn't work for me.

What I see now with GM is basically the exact same as with the version I had on my S21 Ultra and both being pre-Android 12.

Not sure if it makes any difference, but I was with Verizon when I had the S21U and with ATT now with GZF3

Yeah I believe the s21 started with this collaboration so s21 users might see this, I don't use one handed mode to confirm.

So, for anyone else using the S21 version of Google Messages, do you notice a glitch when you open the app on the smaller display? Sometimes when I open the app, it's all distorted, but if I back arrow out and reopen it resets and it's back to normal.

It appears to be related to using the app on the larger internal display then opening on the outer display, at least I think that's the pattern. Minor annoyance. Just curious if anyone else is experiencing this?

The only thing I have noticed from time to time, and this is NOT just the Google Messages app is:

• When opening the app on the Outer Screen and opening the device to switch to the Inner Screen, I notice that the text has zoomed in, a LOT. I just reset the zoom and all is good.
• I have noticed that this happens maybe 10% of the time and not always happening.
• I have also noticed that this happens mainly in apps that display a lot of text (Messaging, Emails, Browser and so forth)
• This ONLY happens when I have the Outer Screen ON and Continue the app on the inner display

I don't mess with the Zoom levels normally, except to fix them when they do what I described.

Yes I noticed this too after using it in the inner display then opening it on the outer display.

It won't let me reinstall it. There is a newer version available and that doesn't have the Sammy UI.

I just got an update to the official Google Messages and it now it translates iPhone users react emojis. Btw, I'm on the beta version off the play store. Not sure if the non beta does it yet.
