On the Samsung website they have carrier phones and an unlocked phone. I'm considering buying an unlocked phone will I have any problems using it on the Verizon network

Have you noticed any problems with the cellular signal being low? I have one unlocked (non Verizon) phone and one carrier specific and the unlocked phone has a much weaker cell signal.

Maybe you have figured it out but there is a way to do this. The method I found out was through Nova launcher.

My video calling now works.
