Unlocking Sprint Galaxy S4 with unlock code

Hi, I have a samsung galaxy s4 from sprint with a slot for simcard in it. I just broke my contract with sprint and got the unlock code for it. But, I don't know what to do with the unlock code. Once I use other simcard in it, it does not ask for a unlock code just says "invalid simcard". Any help would be very much appreciated.

What network's simcard are you putting in your phone? Are you sure it's compatible? Are you sure it's in the right way?

It should be prompting you for an unlock code once you put in the new sim.
