Unrevoked? questions?

I tried to root my Incredible using the unrevoked 3.21 method. At the end it gave me an error saying it could not root then asked if my firmware was too new. I should note that the first part of the hboot driver installation it said
"On EVO 4G, you will have to select HBOOT USB at that menu by pressing volume down four times, then power. Wait until the screen flashes through an ?SD Checking? message before pressing buttons; otherwise, the phone will ignore keypresses.
Connect the phone to your Windows machine with a USB cable and wait for the phone to say HBOOT USB PLUG on screen."
I do not have this option in the Hboot menu on my Dinc the only options I have in the Hboot menu are; fastboot, recovery, clear storage, simlock, and factory reset.
I've been on a number of forums and tried to express this problem but no one seems to understand what I'm talking about. I really want to root my phone, so bad, I'm almost willing to pay someone to just do it for me.

Thats only for the evo ignore that part . If you installed the drivers correctly all you have to do is open unrevoked and hit ok... When your phone is plugged you need usb debug on and disk drive.. You turn usb debug on in settings application/development

On the EVO 4G? Did you have the correct Unrevoked file?

ok so I ignored the "evo" part but it still told me that the root failed. my phone is working fine so I guess not a total failure...everything else, I believe, is as Unrevoked described. Unrevoked did seem to go through the normal process of installing the root. maybe there is something I'm missing. Also the drives installed correctly, debug and disk drive was checked on on my phone. please guru, help the newbie. by the way what's top rank in this, Android God?

do you have an app called superuser on ur phone? if so your rooted if not gtalk me and i can root it for you

He says in the hboot menu he has the option for recovery. So doesn't that mean that clockwork has been flashed? I don't remember that as an option before I rooted, I could be wrong......
