.... wow dude... Are you choosing to not connect the dots or what? Everything involving root is a risk...however some things are more risky than others... How in the bloody **** is that contrary to each other o_O All developers cover their *** by telling people that there is a risk in what they're about to do. But like I said, the developers have a responsibility to do honest work. unrevoked has not taken any responsibility with their work. I can go and flash a rom and if something doesn't go right, I can easily go to the developers thread and get some help. What happens if something goes wrong during or after using unrevoked?? Not a god damn thing except make a thread saying "blah blah not working used unrevoked help". If you seriously need me to outline how unrevoked is more risky then you really have no business in this thread at all.

Man I didnt know you were the android police . You don't seem to get the fact all you can do on here is offer your opinion or copy and paste or reinterpet some info that you read that some one else originally wrote . So basically your upset that you can't "help" someone because you don't know enough to figure out what exploits the Unrevoked team used ... So you thumb your nose at it . And you look down your nose at any one that does not feel the same as you. As far as this thread goes I am sorry to inform you neither one of us has "buisness" in here it's an open forum which gives us all the same freedoms . I wish this topic did not cause you so much ire as I see from a lot of your post you help individuals quite a bit in a nice way. Cheers..

LMAO. I think you need to read up on my posts a bit. I can do much more than "offer opinions and copy and past or reinterpret some info that you read that someone else originally wrote". I'm sure there are more than enough people here that will vouch for me.. What have you done on this forum other than pretend that you know anything? You just proved how ignorant and foolish you are by making this statement:

So basically your upset that you can't "help" someone because you don't know enough to figure out what exploits the Unrevoked team used

If you had any clue about what you're talking about, you would know that NOBODY knows! This is why people don't like unrevoked. Because NOBODY knows whats going on behind the scenes with unrevoked because they refuse to release it. So if you're gonna make an accusation like that, for the love of god make sure YOU know what YOU'RE talking about. Everyone would agree that if they were to release their method there would be no problem with it. But because nobody knows what's going on, nobody can help if they don't know what could have potentially caused it. Yes it's an open forum, but don't come around acting like you know what you're talking about when obviously you don't. You can, but you look like a fool. There's a reason why I reply to other posts enthusiastically and nicely.. people don't troll around with nonsense and making ridiculous comments like you have. I'm the most laid back person you'll ever meet. And I'm also probably the most eager to help person you'll ever meet as well. But when someone has the balls to tell me that I'm being an "elitist" or a "snob" when all I'm trying to do is HELP people make the correct decision not only for themselves, but also so it's easier to help, I get offended.

I can vouch for jerzy.

Oh and btw he told me that we don't know anything "its not like you write code" yeah. As if there's a plenthora of people that can write code and we are stupid. Haha. He doesn't even have adb knowledge.

He's just trollin.

Yeah you seem real laid back..... sure I can see it .... thank you for saving the masses from pure and utter destruction.. I am sorry that so many people have transgressed against your better judgment and rooted there phone in the most blasphemous of methods .. I hope you can relax a little . I mean it seemed like everthing was cool the other day when all your buddies were teeing off on the subject but as the post go on seems like y'all lost out on all the fun. Thanks for all the replys I have enjoyed the thread.

You just keep killing your cause ... I would venture to say anyone that may read this thread without a prior opinion on the matter is probably gonna be turned off by your constant bashing .

Now that the war is over... scoob, we're just trying to say that unrevoked doesn't offer any help. I'm going to ask a favor of you, in a seriousness...

Can you please contact the unrevoked dev team? Ask them if they'd be willing to add a forum to their page for all their users and ask them if they'd be able to provide addition information and assistance to their unrooting method.

Please let them know that there are many users that have difficulty with their root method either up front or at some point down the road. While most users have a seamless transition from stock to root, a lot of people encounter an error and get caught up along the way and need help and they have no way of solving the problem other than turning to the forums. It'd be beneficial for them to have a forum or some way for people to contact them when it's an issue pertaining to their product.

It's good customer service.

We're not haters. We're not picketing. We're not on a witch hunt. We're frustrated that we're lost in the sauce. I, as a previous unrevoked user, was frustrated that there was no straight forward website or page with the exact answer I need to my problem with unrevoked.

All the answers I found were for other root methods. Every problem I had had an answer, just pertained to a different root method.

Would that solution work with unrevoked? Nobody knew. Because nobody knows unrevoked except unrevoked.

I really would like to see unrevoked up the par with their webpage, I'd love to see a forum with developer input and feedback. Updates, faqs, recommended this and that...

Let us know what unrevoked says. Thanks man.

I think a lot of people have a misconception that team unrEVOked won't share their exploit because they're being mean or some other malicious reason. The real reason they won't release their exploit is because the second they do, guess what HTC will do? If your guess was patch this vulnerability on every single device VIA OTA maintenance update, and include said patch on every single future device, you are correct.

These guys created a product and found an exploit that works on multiple devices. This is an amazing accomplishment. If you view unrEVOked as a "product" and with the knowledge that if the manufacturer (HTC) figures out how you make your product that manufacturer will prevent you from doing so, it's smart business to protect your product. I'd do the exact same thing in these guys position.

The issue I take with unrEVOked, and this is just MHO, is anyone can do it without any understanding of what they could potentially do to their device. The reason I don't like that is, once rooted you have an incredible amount of freedom to change, flash, adjust .... and also get yourself into hot water pretty darn quick. It's not team unrEVOked's responsibility to give people an IQ or reading comprehension test prior to letting them use their product. It's the consumers responsibility to to ensure they properly understand the ramifications of their actions. Because this team has made it as easy as pushing a button, people are now skipping past the countless hours of reading in which you pick up some invaluable knowledge. This same knowledge later translates into the ability to troubleshoot your own device should something go wrong.

I think what teams like unrEVOked are doing is the future. Were going to continue to see more and more plug and play root methods for devices. This is something we're just going to have to accept, and adjust how we think about things.

This post was written by ksmithinny in accordance with rule 5 section 14 which states ...... can a brother just get some root straight from the manufacturer? :)

I Completely Agree with you KSmith IDK if I was clear with my hate for the Easy Root...

Its not the DEV Team... They are a great set of Devs and it is a great device they created which in turn gets people into problems for all the reasons you listed...

But honestly people there is nothing we can do if you dont decide to read before rooting...

Why post up a thread when you know you didnt educate yourself in rooting and got yourself into a problem which you need us to help with...

In this I say we should be allowed to flame for your laziness in educating yourself before taking on a task most of us worked hard for...

In the End Root how you want but remember try searching and Reading before you Thread-jack or Create a new Thread...

Basically every question I've seen in the past month or so has been answered multiple times since June when well when I first rooted...

Exact date of my Root June 6th 2010 I picked up my EVO June 5th 2010

Its been a long road since then...

But in all honesty like Ksmith Said I acquired the knowledge needed to diagnose any issues I have because I rooted the long way and hell I literally went thru Hell ReRooting and fixing my Root

Hence how I can up with my Dirty Root Method

Worked for me but def will not work for all *a few of us tried a while back*

PEOPLE just read and Educate yourselves... That is my main issue with UnRevoked No knowledge gained in the Method

I am running unrevoked right now, but my speaker is out in my phone, after I get another EVO I will be following the simple root method and finally give this cm6 I keep reading about a try :)

Yea unrevoked.does not teach you nothing I remember my phone went crazy then went into recovery I couldn't find a rom on my sdcard only way I could get a rom was through adbpush if I had rooted unrevoked way I would've never been able to know how to use adb. But I got through and pushed a Rom in my SD card its better to learn then just click a button at the end it just will come in handy

I'll be honest. The only reason I used unrevoked when I first got my EVO is because I had no idea what I was doing. And I had no problem rooting and have not had problems YET. But if this unrevoked thing that has everyone talking could cause me problems. I'm just going to save Tue head ache.and go the less painless route for the long run. Majority rules right?

OMG are we gonna beat this dead horse to death!! It's your phone it's your choice people should be able to root how they want without being bashed for it! I keep saying if people take the time to read, and understand whats going on even if you decide to do the unrevoke method people would have a lot less problems when using unrevoke in the event something goes wrong.

Unrevoke can brick your phone? This may be true, but I know people who have also bricked their phones trying to do it the so called right way!

Okay so your tired of seeing post that say "PLEASE HELP USED UNREVOKE" If you don't want to help these people then don't, it's as simple as that and hopefully someone us who doesn't care how someone rooted will give them hand. I'm sure everyone choosing to use unrevoke have read the threads know the dangers involved, and if they don't care then why should anyone else? I'm just sayin;)

excellent post, especially the bit about consumer responsibility. the majority of people don't know squat about the mechanics of a car yet they still buy and drive them. should we tell them to start walking instead?
