I didn't mean to leave you hanging jerzy...we were kinda in this together. But I had something terrible happen yesterday...I lost my job. Over som BS that a lot of other people do, too, that nobody thought was wrong.

Anyway, I think Ksmith and Jerzy covered it and truslide you da man!

Cory's the man for offering to host the unrEVOked forum here (as long as the actual unrEVOked team monitors and replies IMO).

d3x this thread has been very entertaining, and I think a few people were just trying to egg Jerzy on.

Bottom line, half of the regulars on here seem to have tried unrevoked and/or troubleshooted enough people's problems to have enough experience to have a solid opinion on unrevoked. If you disagree that's your right, but we're just speaking from experience. And that's "we" as a community, the Android Central community. :)

^ Werd... I spoke from experience, being a noob that was slightly educated, to a noob that's educated. I read a lot of threads and different forums about rooting... androidcommunity.com, xda, androidforum.com, and here... still, more questions. After rooting with unrevoked more questions.

It was only until I unrooted that i started to understand. It's the hands on process. It's a learning process. How many of you guys got a job just based off of what you read, never getting any hands on experience...

iamlilysdad... who fired your?!?! WE! As a community! Will stand with you and protest!!! Or i'll kick your bosses ***... where he at?

I think that this dissucssion needs to change from bashing unrevoked, since would all agree that its a users fault, not a devlopers.

The unrevoked team has done a lot in he advancements in rooting on many platforms. It has been tested to work. Anything that goes on from there is user error. The users have the option to root correctly, and chooe shortcuts.

We should stop trying to trouble shoot urevoked user errors. Offer them help in unrooting, and using the long method.

From now on all root qustions regaurding unrevoked should be directed at them, through the means of contacts they provide.

I'm becoming convinced that this thread needs to take a dirt nap fairly soon.

We're starting to alienate a large chunk of our community that used unrEVOked to gain root.

This Goat's opinion on UR is simply this: Since I have gained root (I'm still a noob compared to many) unrEVOked has gained a bad wrap due to the fact that they have had a couple of irresponsible releases that have bricked a few Evo's. When I decided to gain root I was countlessly warned through previous posts that things could go quickly awry if I decided to go that route. So I didn't. I took a slightly harder route and rolled back and used Simple Root. Good news is that I learned a tad about adb before borking out and doing a one click method.

I do not blame the unrEVOked users for going their route. Many people simply want root for a few simple objectives: Wireless tether, remove bloatware, try out CM6, etc.

A lot of these people aren't like the rest of us. They don't really want to change ROM's everyday, theme their own phone, experiment with Kernels for days and days until they find the perfect mixture of ROM and Kernel.

So I don't blame the user. The average user wants to gain root without having to read for 6 hours about cost/benefit of what method to use. They simply want to root their phone without risking bricking it themselves.

To all unrEVOked users: Our elder community may seem pompous or "elitist" when it comes to this subject... But you must understand that our elder community has spent MONTHS helping out the issues that unrEVOked has caused on people's phones. I've observed countless posts in my short time here where our OG's have spent TONS of time and effort to bail out issues that unrEVOked has caused. So try to understand it from their perspective. And when YOU have an issue, these "pompous elitists" will be the first to try to bail you out.

To our OG's: Try to throw yourselves in the shoes of unrEVOked users who don't find playing around with root a hobby like us. MANY UR users have gotten through with little to no issues. To alienate and bash UR users is just silly and it attempts to fracture the great community that we have here on AC.

This Goat has his 2 cents.

As the OP of this thread, and the primary instigator of this issue, i am the first to admit that i give kudos to the unrevoked team. Theyve done an amazing job with coding and the root method. Their user contact is crap tho. They need to reach out and support the community and their users. Not one dev member from unrevoked has been on this thread. Why? Im not against unrevoked. Ive used them! But the forum is frustrated because users turn to the only place for help, here, rather than the devs. It shouldnt be that way. Period. What if you had to pay for this super simple process? Then what would you do?!

It would be great if we could get a thread or section or sticky for unrevoked users since the process doesnt require pushing any files. The intro will have a disclaimer as well as what to look out for with root and tidbits that other people know (or had to figure out on their own or be told) to support unrevoked. It would also be great if unrevoked would merge with this community and provide support. I would LOVE for there to be a one click root and unroot method. It is up to the individual to educate themselves, none the less, unrevokeds method is like giving candy to a baby.

The sticky will have everything unrevoked, all threads pertaining can be moved there along with questions and solutions or work arounds. We all agree unrevoked is a beast in its own. I tjink at this point it earns its own section.

I commend the unrevoked team and again i ask, will you align with us and support the community rather than hiding behind a curtain. We ask you to do this by creating a forum on your site, as well as adding information to your site to educate noobs. They dont have to root the long way, but they should still be educated, theyll go to you first because, like a noob, they want it and they want it now. Thats why theyre here.

27scoob... any luck contacting them? We have support from admin and we are ready to get this underway, we just need them, their feedback, and their help.

Now that this has been closed:

The LAST thing we want is for Android Developers to think Android Central is the place to go to complain about their work & level of support. This does nothing to encourage participation in our community from developers, nor does it encourage Android development. If you are dissatisfied with their work, you have several other options:

* Learn/Develop a method to root your device.
* Keep your phone stock.
* Help those that are having issues by pointing them to the IRC channel that is being used to troubleshoot.

In addition, this thread was full of violations of the forum rules & guidelines. If you haven't read them lately, I suggest you become familiar with them, because the other thing we will not tolerate is members/developers leaving the community because they got torched here in the forums.

Cory
