What baseband is the phone?
I have the correct firmware for the ZV4 and ZV5 for both the KDZ and KP500 unbrick guides.

if you don't care about fastboot, zv5 baseband will work on any optimus v.

True.
Fastboot is really only used on the V for kernel development, and to wipe and install data/images to the phones partitions (handy to have if KDZ or KP500 utilities still seem to not have worked after flashing through emergency mode).
