For those who are interested... I know there have been numerous people having problems unrooting unrevoked (with the RUU and the pc36img) if they rooted AFTER the 3.29.65.1.5 ota and getting the error "main version is older". Well chdrummerdude over at XDA uploaded an updated pc36img.zip that he extracted for the stock 3.29.65.1.5 RUU. He said it loaded for him without a hitch and he has confirmed with terminal emulator that he is now totally unrooted.

Here is the thread... [GUIDE] How to Unroot the EVO in 2 STEPS - xda-developers

Here is the file... MEGAUPLOAD - The leading online storage and file delivery service

Again all credits are to chdrummerdude!

Or you can just run a regular RUU....

I have heard some people were having problems with the RUU connecting to the phone... and plus for people like me who have a mac and not a PC cannot run .exe files. Don't shoot the messenger... just trying to help people out if they were having problems.

Yes, the RUU wouldn't work for me at all. I used this method and it worked great.

I had your issue when I was trying to unroot my phone using the standard RUU method. It worked for me before, but this time it wasn't.

If I remember how to do it right, you have to:

Unrevoke it (gain root again)
Flash a custom/older HBoot
Flash older radio/wimax/etc
Then run the RUU

I don't remember where the instructions were, or where the files were, to do this. I know for sure it's on XDA, though.

OR, you can do what the OP posted.
