I was in a restaurant where it gave the info to text a word an number.
When I enter these, I get a message: unsupported short code.
I went to Metro PCS site and saw there were very few supported codes.

Is there a way to make my Optimus send the codes?

No. Usually these are carrier specific designed for the carrier to offer additional services to the user. Could also be a very limited ROM on the phone.

But, you can call your carriers support to double check. (or their web site)

The good thing with this limitation, is you will get less spam and scams, which are etremely popular, especially in Europe.

Things must have changed since this post went up. I got a short code from Verizon which was incomplete and so basically useless and I have fed that back to them.

In the meantime I found this site for that exact code which says there is a way to stop the code by texting to that number.
https://usshortcodedirectory.com/directory/short-code-27589/

When I tried it, I got info "this may change your services". I'm having enough trouble with Verizon services and I've archived the text to use in the future.
