So Im looking for a new phone, Currently stuck using my old iPhone 6s due to sending back my Huawei P20 Pro due to having 2 of them over the space of 2 weeks with software issues, so my provider has let me return my phone and removing my minimum term from my contract. Before the p20 I had a Samsung S8 which I enjoyed as a phone but in the year that I had it is had to be repaired 3 Times (mainboard fault at just over a month old, then 2 times for screen faults/screen burn)I no longer have the S8 as it was returned when I upgraded.

Im 90% sure i'd like another Android as I love the flexability of the OS you can really make it your own, also with iPhones the battery always disappoints. Think I want to avoid Huawei, and may give Samsung another go but the screen issues I had concern me a little.

Main thing I'm after is a decent battery and a decent camera. I can't afford to go out and buy a handset outright so looking for something available on finance with a sim only plan for flexibility, or available on contract but not with an over inflated plan.

Ive seen the note 9 Which I could get for £34 a month from Samsung then add a Sim Plan from Superdrug/Smarty for £10. Which would give me 4gb (my average usage). Im also Interested in the Pixel though I believe this would only be available via a contract.

Anyone got some advise, would the Note9 be likely to develop the same screen issues. Or are there any other phones worth having a look at? I've looked in the shops but it mainly seems to be Samsung, Apple, Huawei, and the odd Sony.

For the remainder 2018 the only two devices I will be recommending are the Note 9 and Pixel 3 XL. Actual screen burn - in is nearly impossible to achieve with normal usage on modern OLED displays.

I would recommend the Pixel 2 line. With the 3 line coming out in the fall, last year's handsets (which are still really good, both in performance and in camera) will be offered at a discount. What about a mid-range phone (with decent battery and camera); like the OnePlus 6?

I did think of the One Plus it looked nice when I saw it in the o2 store though the screen on the one store was glitchy and bugging out so could not get a good look. Though it only works out about £2/3 cheaper per month. which is for me making the note 9 more attractive, plus id have the benefitt of not being locked to one provider
