Update 4.1.2 [help]

I recently updated to 4.1.2 on kies and now my phone always asks for sim unlock pin when i turn it on, is there any way to get rid of this? some time before the update i did unlock the phone so maybe it went back or something? any ideas?

Also** i want to root, however evrywhere online says ur phone should already be factory unlocked before rooting.....is this factual info? because it seems a little strange that to unlock ur sim you need root, but to root you need an unlocked sim

any help with either prob would be appreciated
