I searched to see if there was a update available on my s6 and there was. Not sure if its 5.1.1 or not but if it is has anyone found it be beneficial to factory reset after?

If you are on AT&T, it's the stagefright security patch. If VZW, it's probably 5.1.1. Clear the cache partition if 5.1.1.

Does Verizon have the 5.1.1 update out now? How do I clear the cache partition?

Yes, Verizon has it out as of today. And to clear the cache partition, while the phone is off hold the power, volume up, and home button until it boots to a green Android screen. Then it'll bring you to another screen with a bunch of options. Use the volume keys to scroll and the power button to select.

Clear cache partition after the update. That'll clear out any issues you may have after the update installs.

Probably hexing myself, but I've owned four Android phones since the first day the Moto Droid shipped, have done a couple of dozen updates, have never cleared the cache, and have never had any issues. My S6 is downloading 5.1.1 now, so we'll see....

Just a FYI. The S6 has its own forum group.

Verizon Samsung Galaxy S5 Lollipop 5.0
