Update coming sooner?!

Correction - after using what's available for 2.x at the moment, people should pray it isn't 2.0 lol.

Out of curiosity, besides the differences in the OS - what differences are you seeing with the Sense UI (i.e. Different Widgets, look, Feel)?

None lol. None of the new features (pinch zoom on the 7 homescreens, landscape home, etc. ) are working yet.

Remember, this is based on a leaked beta and not the release candidate version. no telling exactly how much progress has been made since the leak. I honestly don't think any parts of sense are updated in whats floating around yet.

Check software version

I'm curious, is there any way to check to see what version one's phone is running? I know it's no big deal now, but when it comes time for the upgrade, whenever that will be, it'd be nice to verify. Anyone know if we'll get a message saying we've been upgraded or if there's a way to check the OS version?

Yes:
Settings > About Phone > Firmware Version [mine says 1.5]
Settings > About Phone > Baseband Version [mine says 2.32.00.09.26]
Settings > About Phone > Kernel Version [mine says 2.6.27-e850bba0]

OTA update in progress

PhoneNews.com story here says that the Eris update is now in progress and that it may include a s/w change to improve battery life:

Verizon Now Staging Droid/Eris Updates For Rollout | PhoneNews.com

Verizon has begun uploading and staging the long-awaited Motorola Droid and HTC Eris firmware updates for rollout over the air in the next 48 hours according to reports received today.

Preliminary confirmation suggests that the Droid update does indeed fix the autofocus bug found last month as well as improved battery life, audio quality and a new unlock screen.

As previously reported, the updates for each device address multiple issues encountered since launch early last month, the biggest of which concern the aforementioned autofocus bug found on the Motorola Droid and a general maintenance update for the Eris before being updated to another Android version in the first quarter of next year.

Well the update seems like it worked but not full. I am getting more 3G showing up but data connection is still not to stable for me. Like many times when I am on Pandora or just on the marketplace I will see D under the 3G instead of data activity. I doubt this is normal? I thought the update was suppose to also fix this no?
