*** UPDATE ... FIX IN ONE OF MY COMMENTS BELOW ***I really like the Samsung calendar app but installed Google calendar as well and synced them so that if I lost my phone, all of my calendar data would still be on the desktop site through Google. It worked when I first installed it months ago. I just signed on and noticed that nothing but birthdays are on the desktop site but everything that I've entered into the Samsung mobile app IS on the Google calendar app on my S5. I've tried syncing everything through both mobile apps and the desktop, as well as followed the "help" instructions through Google's calendar desktop site.

Has anyone had this problem and fixed it successfully? There's no desktop site for the Samsung calendar app, is there?

TIA for any help in resolving this!

Re: Google calendar desktop not syncing with mobile

FWIW,

the Google calendar quit syncing with my S5 recently.

Don't know exactly when, but I created a doctor's appointment on the phone 12/28/2014 for this next Wednesday, 1/14/2015.

Got to wondering today exactly when that appointment is and looked on my PC at the Google web calendar.
that calendar entry is NOT there. So, it quit at least that far back...

this is not the first time I have had troubles with Google's sync mechanism... anything to do with gmail "for me" is totally unreliable, always has been for as long as I can remember. I do not trust it at all for anything at anymore. Never, but never ever... I have had gmail sent "to me" on gmail just get lost. disappear into the ether like it never existed. It would always send mail out, but it went for almost a year before I got "it fixed" last November. I thought I would try to use it again.... nope, it is useless.

Yahoo's calendar, on the other hand, in 20 years of using it, has never, ever, lost a calendar event, and it has never ever, failed to send notifications. Whether SMS or email. I always check both.

This last little episode today with the Google calendar sync just fried it for me. I will never, ever, use it for anything ever again.

Oh, on the phone I am using the "Today Calendar". Beats the hell out of Google's calendar.

Are you able to have the mobile calendar sync to a desktop site on Today Calendar and Yahoo calendar? I starting using Cozi last night just as a backup because I don't want to lose all of our appts. I mostly use the monthly view.

I tried to get it to sync into Yahoo calendar last night, but it was not offering Yahoo in the list.

I wrote them an email to ask why can't I just enter my login information to yahoo and have it work?
Email works that way easily....

So, I looked at the yahoo android app and it is for email, doesn't offer the calendar. This is a glaring error on yahoo's part, and maybe why Today calendar can't interface with yahoo.

This is causing me some inconvenience as I have to enter into two separate calendars now.

The Today calendar just blows the rest of them away for ease of use, the GUI is awesome, scroll up/dn to see the months before or after today. Just a wow package.

I just wish Yahoo would interface with it. There is a list of over 10 accounts on my phone that Today will connect with, Yahoo just isn't one of them.

There is a Yahoo Calendar Sync app that I am looking at, but the description gives me a bit of pause before trying it out. If you do the steps wrong, it deletes all of the accounts on your phone. Also, it is not offering a free version to try it out first. That is just wrong.

onward:

I have been looking thru all of the calendars on PlayStore and just now came across this one
* Calendar by Jorte Organizer - Android Apps on Google Play

On their Information page, they specifically state that it will Sync with Yahoo. Just now got it installed.

Jorte shows Yahoo in their list. When you click on it, it asks you to install Jorte Sync, did that, then it asked for my Yahoo login and it took that and logged in okay. It is now displaying the Yahoo Calendar in the list of calendars to sync with.

This is the very first calendar screen that Jorte presented to me. I am pleased, it shows all of my January entries.

From here on, it will take a lot of working with the calendars I have on the phone to see which will interface with others.

My first bit of work with it was to change the theme to a darker format. For me, this made the text stand out by increasing the contrast. It also reduces the amount of battery drain to display the screen.

So far, I am impressed with Jorte calendar.

I created a new entry on the Yahoo web calendar, then forced Jorte to sync immediately.
The Jorte calendar display did not immediately show any changes, but while I was reading on other things that it can do, I happened to look back and the new entry is indeed on my S5's Jorte Calendar.

So, I now have a new Default Calendar for my S5, it is Jorte.

Re: Google calendar desktop not syncing with mobile

I worked some more with Jorte Calendar, went back and forth between it and the Yahoo web calendar which is part of my premium Yahoo email package that I subscribe too. And have for 20+ years (supports throw-a-way emails, great spam filters)

I tested that both Jorte entries would show up in Yahoo, and that Yahoo entries will show up on Jorte.

I am now satisfied that it will do what I need for it to do. Then I uninstalled all of the other calendar apps including the premium version of Today Calendar. If it won't sync with Yahoo, it is useless for me.
For you, it can still be the best calendar out there, as long as you don't need Yahoo.

The ROM version of Google Calendar I am stuck with, can't even turn it off. But no problem, it does not interfere with Jorte, it is as bare as a newborn baby's behind... so I just won't have the icon where it will bother me.

My phone is cleaner once again..... it always gets cluttered up when I start trying out new things...

Re: Google calendar desktop not syncing with mobile

I figured it out! At least for my problem, which was that I use the stock S5 calendar app but also have the Google calendar app so that the stock app will sync with Google and load to the desktop Google site, therefore making a "backup" in case I lose my phone. The stock app was syncing with the Google mobile app but not to the Google desktop site.

The fix:
On the S5 stock app when you hit the "+" to add an event, the default at the top was "my calendar". If you tap "my calendar", I have other options that pop up; "my calendar", "email@gmail.com" and "Samsung calendar". I selected the option for gmail then added an event (tested adding a new task as well), it took a minute but the new event and task also went to the Google mobile app calendar AND the Google desktop calendar.

I'm guessing an update somehow changed the default so I'll be checking that from now on. Also, another calendar option I was using was Cozi because it also has lists and you can add appts or events for different family members, notify family members and it also has a desktop site for backup.

My first choice is the stock S5 calendar app though, it's easy to use and I like the monthly view. I wish you could change the color of the green top bar though. Still, it's the best for me.

A 2nd update now on the Jorte Calendar

As with all things new, it is all too easy to condemn it for a total abysmal failure, and I was right at that point last night by midnight. All too ready to get back here on this thread and ream Jorte's developer really good for only downloading my Yahoo calendar, but never again updating it.

I bit my fingers and tongue and decided to wait until after a good night's sleep.
This morning I looked harder at the list of calendars that it is syncing to, no clues right off the bat there.

So, I then created a new entry in Jorte for today. Nothing popped up to make me see the problem. That new entry never did show up on the Yahoo calendar.

Then I created a new entry and then a little thin line at the top of the page caught my eye... it show's the calendar being updated into.... duh? Local ??

Yes, when I opened up that line it showed me a list of calendars to add that entry to. The only one I even want displayed is my Yahoo Calendar so I made a single check mark on that, and removed the other check marks.

A new window pops up and asks if I intended to do that, and do I want to make this the new Default Calendar? I clicked on YES, then CREATE, and then SYNC.

Wallah! a few minutes later my Yahoo Calendar on the web did indeed update and the new entries from Jorte are there.

SUCCESS for Jorte! it works on Yahoo.... Yahoo!!!

BTW, the manual Force Sync is not all that obvious either.... this calendar requires you to get familiar with how it works. It does work very good, but it has so many features packed into it, that everything is not accessible from the Main Display page.

You click on the Calendar Image which brings up a new command line, and the very first button on that command line is SYNC.
