Update My New GS3 From 4.0.4 to...?

Just got this on Saturday and it wants me to install the the system update. I know how some updates are and tried finding it on here but no such luck. Not sure if I'm ready to try and root, that's a whole new ball game for me. Do I need to install this update?

Yes, I would install the update. If you don't, it will constantly bug you about updating.

Thank you! I think I did 2 updates, the firmware and the software...I'm at 4.1.1.
