Update Question

My S4 currently runs on Android 4.3 but my phone has been saying there is an update available. The guy at the T-mobile store suggested that I update it and I am guessing the update is kit kat. My question is what are the differences between 4.3 and What I am guessing is kit kat? I don't want to update and hate it and I have been hearing mixed feelings about kit kat
