I rooted my phone via the sticky here, but AVA rom requires an update to
Radio-2.15.00.11.19 and wimax-27167_R01.

I know my radio is .... .09.01 dont know my wimax.

I also read updating radio can be tricky.

So what do the experts here say?

Its not tricky if you know how to flash things in recovery. You just haveto remember to reboot in between the radio and wimax flashes.

Go search at xda for the radio thread and you'll be gold

He's probably talking about the initial splash screen. i hope you did a nandroid backup before flashing any of the radios... if you did restore it, grab the combo one and flash it. if you didn't then grab the radio combo, push it to your sd card through adb in recovery, then reboot.

Ok I have amon ras recovery image right now its great just to do everything I have the file combo downloaded and if I use my man's idea of taking the combo package and then use clockwork to apply which would be easy enough butttt I have the fresh evo Rom with the 003 hardware and my radio is already what's this package is going to put on and my software is the 3.70.651.1 with a ( hboot of 2.02 ) so my fear is in the app to apply I need to install clockwork but I've read that its not so hot with these spec could someone who know about this subject help me please before I break another evo lol thanks for any help much appreciated

Just flash the combo package an WAIT. Dont battery pull or anything crazy, its gonna reboot, act like a crack fiend, and generally scare you for awhile.

No worries, though itll dump you back into the rom. Good things come to those who wait :)

been white screen for 5 hours, after the combo radio/wimax zip, did nandroid restore and still white splash screen

woah-- finally got it--- went back to the previous radio. I tried that last night but it still hung. Maybe I need to install the new AVA rom first-- then do the radio? Maybe the new radio doesnt work with the kernel? I did post same question over at XDA

Hey Dave, I'm glad you got it but that shouldn't of happened like that.. You should be able to flash your radio with the latest version and still be ok.

So what would be next step?

I am going to put another rom on and then try again

Which file did you use to update your radio and what steps did you take in recovery or through rom manager to get it going?

I would suggest to use this all in one combo file:

EVO_Radio_2.15.00.11.19_WiMAX_27167_R01_PRI_NV_1.90_003.zip

And install it through recovery or via ROM Manager.

It shouldn't really matter what ROM you're running for a radio update.

What recovery do you have installed?

I got it to work-

I understand and believe you , and I just read some people were having same issue if they installed this before the newer AVA rom.

So I rom'ed first then did the radio combo and it worked. Could be if I tried again on old rom it would have worked as well-- but enough experimenting

I agree! I'm glad you're up and running well.

It wont work if you have an older htc kernel is why, I remember reading about it somewhere. I updated with cm6 just fine.

Glad you're fixed.

So I also flashed the combined package radio/WiMax and am experiencing something alittle strange also.

My phone seems to have HUGE amounts of lag. The live wallpaper seems to chug along (nowhere near as fluid), screen transitions are laggy, AND when I reboot my phone, it takes upwards to about 2 min for my phone to now find my SD card and begin to load the apps properly not to mention taking longer for apps to open as well.

This is the ONLY thing I did to my phone, and before it was all peachy. I wiped the caches (both) twice as well but it doesnt seem to clear up the issue

I didnt think a radio flash would add this much lag to everything else on my phone. Im running the last version of the AC rom here so maybe updating it to the new "ReBirth" one will help?

Update.. Well I flashed Azreal X v3 and everythings peachy again, and pretty damn zippy. Guess the new radio/WiMax update didnt play to well with either AC2.8 or something else I had installed at the time.
