Update straight from Marshmallow to Oreo?

Have a 6P still running 6.01, never got around to upgrading to 7.1. Now the OTA for Oreo popped up a bout a week or so ago. Any issues upgrading straight from 6.01 to 8.0? Still a good idea to wipe the cache partition, clear app cache and clean out unused apps I assume?

Frankly I'd load the full image and wouldn't mess with an OTA at this point. Factory Reset (from within the OS); load image; wipe system cache from Recovery; clean setup (no restore from backup).

That's just me...
