Update To 4.4.4...What Is "Visual Voice Mail?"

If I'm not mistaken, it's only a way to get your voicemail automatically translated into text for you. So, instead of hearing the recording, you just read the message like you can on Google Voice.

Its free and its OK, just gotta activate it and call Verizon to input the PIN the app gives you. Its just as glitchy as google voice IMO

I'm assuming visual voicemail is the icon on top that let's you know you got voicemail. If so, I got this ever since I got the phone even before the update.

I got tmobile and I haven't gotten the 4.4.4 update yet. I thought verizon is the last carrier that gets the update?

Visual voicemail is like an app that lets you see all your voicemails in a list and select them indivually to listen to, rather than having to call the voicemail number, go through the voice prompts, menus etc. I think it's pretty useful and it's free so why not. The service from VZW that actually transcribes voicemails is different and costs money, however.

How do you get into visual voicemail settings on the phone to enable it (assuming you want to do this) Where is it in the settings? Or is it a stand-alone app you have to download from the Play Store?

Just follow the directions of the Verizon prompt that you've been getting since the update. The app is in the app folder, it's just called "voice mail."

You did miss something (there are a number of other threads about the update a little ways down and Android Central had an article). I don't think other carriers have pushed 4.4.4 but I can only speak for VZW from personal experience.

I've been trying to subscribe to this but it keeps telling me that i don't have a connection, and then forces me to call voicemail. so i'm not sure if i have it going or not...anyone else have this issue?

edit--I do not have it. called myself, left a message, opened the voicemail app--same thing. tells me I have a connection issue.

It's free for 3 months, then they start charging you. That is what I was told when I called them. You may want to check.

Pretty sure this is acurate. In the agreement it says there is a cost. And there definitely was to activate it on my previous phone.
