Update Went Away

When I started up my Nexus 7 (2013) for the first time, it downloaded an update, but I never installed it, based on concerns about multi-touch. A notification to install it sat in my notification bar for the last few days. But this evening, it went away. And I checked in the about tablet, and it didn't install: I am still on jwr66n. I went to system update and checked, and it said I was up to date. So it seems like they realized something is wrong with the update and want people to stay on jwr66n.

Interesting, heard something similar today on other 2 device, hope an fix coming up soon... am about to just return it. Anyone else noticing this as well for those who hasn't updated on their nexus 7 2013???!

There are reports on google forums of a JSS15Q update going out that alleviates multi-touch issues.

That's good news. Now if its true JSS15N is no longer supported, best if I can make an backup on the original JWR66N. No used backing up an plagued firmware update.

I think you are right about JSS15J being pulled. I checked a unit I had on JWR66N and not only was the notification gone, but the ota update.zip that was downloaded and stored in /cache was gone as well.

Ok, Paul Wilcox Google community manager posted confirming this update addresses multi-touch issues.

As a couple of you have mentioned, there's a new system update that's started rolling out for your Nexus 7s. This update does address the touchscreen issues discussed in this thread. If you're one of the people experiencing touchscreen issues, please let us know how it's going after you've received and installed the update.

I would like to remind you a watched pot never boils.

I don't know how Google chooses to distribute their updates, but on past platforms it is a phased release where random unit ids are picked to download the update and if your number isn't up, no amount of pressing check for update wil get you the update until the algorithm chooses your number. After the initial phases then eventually it opens up for everyone. This I believe is to keep servers from getting hammered and also to get some initial feedback if something went terribly wrong.
