Update Won't Be Ready for Another 30-60 Days

Lol glad everythings working for you.. Just want to add to that: its NOT a good idea to use TiBu to restore any system apps or settings after doing upgrades or flashing ROMs.. Because your system files have changed. However it seems to be fine for restoring your saved game progress/data and simple stuff like that. Anything else, just log in fresh and set up again.

Yea, that's a good point. For system stuff, I just set it up again. I just wanted all my apps and data cause I have a lot and I hate having to set all that up. This worked out well. I'm up and running, permanently rooted, and have the update installed. And yes, for those wondering, the new baseband and kernel are DEFINITELY an improvement. Much more stable and no data drops since I installed it.

I'm hopeful they'll have it out soon. They said ICS "soon" after Google releases the source. We'll be seeing the source very soon as well, as soon as the Nexus is released. So hopefully we'll get the bug fix and then they'll push out ICS within a month of that. If anything...we'll have a full port of CM7 by then anyways, and then the next version of it will probably be ported so we can have some CM ICS love too :P

Um, NO, that's NOT what they said. :( This is how rumors and disappointment starts. SIGH! What they ACTUALLY said is that within 6 weeks after the source is released for ICS, they will announce their PLANS for ICS releases. That does *NOT* mean ICS releases. The stupid RAZR is going to get it first, followed by the Bionic most likely. For phones, anyway. The Xoom will hopefully get it before anything as it's, in theory, the tablet development platform. In any case, please go read what Moto said again. A LOT of people mis-read it to mean that ICS will be released a month after the source and that's not at all what they said. I really don't think we'll see ICS on the Bionic in an official capacity before March. CM7, however, will most likely get it running before then. I'm placing my money on custom roms getting there first. :)

EDIT: ARGH! Now you got ME misquoting them. :p LOL! They have announced that it's coming to RAZR, Bionic, and Xoom but have given no timeframe for that. Within 6 weeks of the ICS source code release, they will release plans for OTHER devices and hopefully will start to give us some general time frames.

Y'know, even with all the issues, I was still heavily considering getting a Bionic (upgrade ready now...). However, I was definitely going to wait to make sure all the issues were fixed. Looks like I can stick a fork in it now.

I'd say you're wiser than I. After waiting 8 months, I wasn't waiting any further. And even with the issues, I *LOVE* the Bionic. Once the issues are fixed (and in the leaked version of the update I'm running now they appear to be), this phone will rock. Had I known that the stupid RAZR was coming I might have waited, but, again, I waited long enough. You had patience, and honestly, it'll pay off.

You know, I will add that I am amazed at all the people who have already jumped on the RAZR bandwagon. Why are folks so sure that Motorola and Verizon, who managed to release a very buggy Bionic, are not going to goof just as badly with the RAZR.

I have nothing against the RAZR, but the early adopters, given the VERY RECENT track record right before their eyes, puzzle me.

I don't want a RAZR. I want a working Bionic. And now have one since I applied forever root and the leaked update. I don't recommend it for everyone, but, I have no qualms about tweaking my phone. In any case, you're right, the RAZR could have just as many bugs. And no changeable battery is a deal breaker for me. I love the Bionic and am much happier now that the biggest bugs for me are fixed.

Moto doesn't care about the Bionic at all. They will spend their time on the Razr.

This is why my lawsuit will profit my attorney. And they will pay millions. With google buying them, they do not care.Verizon is worse.By war the worse company I have had to deal with. But a a twenty million lawsuit might get their attention.

Probably my last Motorola device. I'm really not happy that we were not told about the Razr. Why did Motorola even bother bringing out a half-baked device?

For one reason. $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

It is unfortunate. Much like how they handled the Xoom upgrade, this is yet another miserable failure on the part of both Motorola and Verizon in my opinion. They are so interested in maintaining the bloat and advertising that you and I pay for when we purchase their products they are completely ignoring a simple fact. That being the problem with the switch between 4G and 3G. Signal is one of the most important things for any phone. Without a signal, the device is virtually useless.

They should prioritize and get that correction out to Bionic owners ASAP.

Unfortunately, both Motorola and Verizon I think are far more itnerested in keeping their advertisers happy than they are their customers ie, all of us who purchased the phone.

This one of the reasons I am anxiously awaiting the release of the Galaxy Nexus. I'm hoping that a true Google phone will be a little bit different, especially in the areas of updates.

We shouldn't have to root our phones in order to rid ourselves of the senseless advertisements (bloat) nor, should we have to root in order to get updates that seem to solve problems like the 4G/3G switch simply because Motorola and Verizon care more for their advertisers than they do for their customers.

Just to let everyone know, someone on Motorola forums just posted that tech support said there is a mechanical problem with the phone and people will have to send them in for repair.

There are also complaints that the razor is also dropping 3g. I feel this problem runs deeper than just our phones

It might but I'm not ready to jump to that conclusion yet. My guess is that the Razr and Bionic share a large portion of their radio code. The leaked build I'm running totally addressed the data drops and with more tweaking will address the ability to hold a 4G signal in fringe areas. I think you'll see updates for the Razr and Bionic getting released pretty close together.

This is bs bionic update should b out by now or better said like yesterday since its been out longer. At least something to correct data connection. Verizon conting me $$$$$$$$$

I just got off the phone with VZW tech support and was told the update was supposed the be pushed out starting tomorrow, 14th, but it has been pushed back by another 2 weeks.

That's interesting. One would think they'd be doing a soak test soon if that were the case. I'd be happy about that. Of course, I have no idea how those of us who updated with the leaked version and forever root are going to go forward. I guess we'll find out.
