I still have not received the update yet. Can some explain what it means by "Optimized LTE system selection"? I do not have LTE in my area. How will this affect my phone, or will it affect my phone?

It is helping people that have LTE. They have been having connection issues (it kept dropping).

Since you don't have LTE it won't affect you. Once you have LTE in your area your phone will have better selection when it comes to how it connects

I still have not gotten the update. but im confused as to what version we should have.

I currently have L710VPLG2

The following link from sprint, says the update that started rolling out on 7/25/2012, is L710VPLG4

But the update that is available to install manually and the one that people claim they are getting is L710VPLG8

Can someone confirm which one is actually the right or latest official update?

Sprint screwed up the original announcement, as well as that cumulative reference page you linked to, erroneously saying that the update version is L710VPLG4.

When the actual update started pushing out and the discrepancy was called to Sprint's attention, they corrected the announcement in their own official forum to read L710VPLG8. Biut they failed to take down the bad cumulative reference page until very recently. (Your link to the bad page now goes nowhere.) Here is a corrected link. I notice that this correct link is for the 32GB device. It may be that they failed to fix the web page for the 16GB device. Actually, both use the same firmware anyway.

So this was a comedy of errors on Sprint's web page.

The correct version is L710VPLG8. There was no L710VPLG4 released.

I have a question for those that haven't received their update. Go to about phone. What is your current build number? Does it end with LG2, LF9 or LEN? The OTA will only be sent to those on LG2. If you're on LF9 or LEN then it won't be pushed to your phone. OTA's are accumulative, You can't get one without getting the one before it first.

Well however bad that you don't have the update at least we know that you're able. I was just trying to figure out why it taking do long for you guys and that was just one of only things I could see stopping it.

I am lg2 as well and still no update here as well. I am guessing people in lte areas got it first maybe? This is crazy, I check everyday and nothing.

probably not. I am not in an LTE area and received the update just fine on my daughter's gs3. If you guys are not rooted and have the stock recovery it is very easy to install the update yourself and will take you less than 5 minutes.

I guess it really is random. I still haven't gotten it yet but not in a hurry either. I've never had to wait this long for an update. Just seems strange.

POSSIBLE TIP TO PUSH LG8 UPDATE!!??
IT WORKED FOR ME!?

Go to settings... App mgr... All programs...... Google framework.??Clear cashed and Data!Go back to home screen.....?Go to settings..... Check software update..... Hit Samsung Software Update..?From Sprint tech... This worked for me!!?Good luck!!
