[UPDATED 12/30/2012][Sprint Only]UnRoot and Return to stock

I don't see an issue with providing additional information to our users. I can only say that I know Skunk's approach works. I've not tested the alternate approach, so I can neither recommend for or against it.

Well, I've always looked to Skunkape's methods when I needed help and info. I've never known him to be anything but spot on. Being a basically lazy guy it just seems an attractive method.

And thanks so much for your efforts and time.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Oh WOW! This worked like a charm! Saved me from going to Sprint! Thank you so much dev team from being there when we need you!

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

I'm not sure what I am doing wrong. I am fairly sure I am following the directions correctly, but every time I try to add the md5 file from the extracted zip file the link downloads Odin gives me the error message "the parameter is incorrect". When I extracted the zip file there is a dll file SS_DL.dll there also. Any help would be appreciated.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

When does Odin give you this error? Is it when you click on the PDA button and then select the md5 file name, or...?

Just before you get the error, what do you see in the ID:COM box? Are auto reboot and reset time, and ONLY THOSE TWO boxes checked?

It gives me the error code when I click "open" to add the md5 file to Odin. F. Reset and auto reboot are the only two boxes checked. And the id:com box says 0:[COM4] but the box is blue.

I think blue is fine. I would try downloading the file again. It could have been corrupted during the download.

I will give you an different file when I get home. You won't have to do anything to it other than put it on your computer. It will just take an hour or so to upload for me. When I say extract. Just double click on the file. The zip will open and then drag the file out of the zip. Do not use the extract option.

Ignore the dll file.

Edit: I don't know if you are doing it but just wanting to cover all the bases... Do not remove the md5 from the end of the file name. This may sound silly but I've seen it....

EDIT: Uploading now....

Download the following file. Click on the pda button in Odin and browse to the file. Do not rename it, do not unzip it. It is ready to go.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

I had the same problem. I booted my phone into recovery mode and did a factory reset and that seems to have worked.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Is there a way to do all this on a mac...all these files are .exe as far as odin and the drivers and do I install the drivers before or after the rom reinstall

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

There is a Mac program called Heimdall that serves the same purpose as Odin: [Tutorial] Heimdall for Mac (Like Odin) - xda-developers

I've never used it, can't provide any instructions on it's use, and seem to recall reading about some problems with it (but could be wrong about that.

The drivers need to be on the computer before you can copy any files to the phone.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Hi, I have tried this method for unrooting. Now I get, sorry android.process.media has stopped running.... andmany more errors like this. Any ideas? did I do Something wrong???

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

I also get: android.process.acore has stopped and email has stopped... My biggest problem is I cant click ok and begin trying to solve this problem

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

You do have a Sprint GS3, right? Since I don't know what you did, I'm not sure what you might have done wrong, or if something just didn't work right. This method, if followed correctly, does work. My suggestion would be to start over, downloading all the files again in case one of the downloads was bad, and being very careful this time to ensure you follow every step exactly as written.

Re: UnRoot and Return to stock

Ok, so I am following this thread trying to unroot my phone. Below is my break down.

-Windows XP 32
-Removed old Samsung Drivers and installed the latest ones
-Right clicked Run as Admin for Odin 3.07
-Put my phone in download mode, plugged in and I got a com with a number
-Chose PDA and chose the .Tar file in the very first post
-In the box in the lower left corner I see message that says added and as and please wait then my Odin says not responding, ever time
-I have downloaded another .tar file that was posted in post #451 but I got a not responding again
-I then unplugged my phone restarted the phone with recovery so I have a phone to use. I unplugged the USB Cable, re ran as admin Odin again without anything plugged in at all... I added the .Tar file under PDA and immediately it says added, please wait, do not remove cable and then not responding...

Any fixes for this?
