Updated SBF Instructions from GB

Ok moving the file to C: helped but when i start it doesn't even take one second and it says it failed. The message in the Status box is "Failed Flashing Process. Failed Flashing Process. (0x7100). Phone connected). Does it matter what the USB connection option is set to?

You have to boot back into bootloader mode... You are tring to boot normally and this wont work because you have to boot into bootloader and then hard reset device before you do a normal power up...

This has to be my problem I'm having now, I bricked my phone trying to flash a rom from Rom Manager and don't want to lose root with the .596 SBF so I'm trying to SBF back to Froyo and do this dance all over again, anyway if this works, wildman I'm buying you a 6 pack!

Edit:well that's embarrassing, I totally forgot about the stock bootloader.. got a donation link wildman?

I'm new here, so excuse me if these are stupid questions, but I have two of them:

1) What are the chances of someone setting it up so that we can use the update.zip to sd card method that we used to install the leaked version (.588?)?

2) Since we have the .596 sbf now (DROIDX Gingerbread (4.5.596) SBF File Released - Droid Life: A Droid Community Blog) can we just use the same process that wildman gave us to install this sbf without first having to revert back to 2.2?

I was going to try to answer the second question on my own, but I am having the same trouble of rsdlite not wanting to load the sbf

No but I enjoy helping, glad it worked out for you...

There is a zip version of stock 4.5.596 GB but without root..

You can install 4.5.596 SBF but there is no root method for it yet so you will be only able to run stock version only...

I've been considering rooting, but haven't been hesitating. If I were to have to make a warranty claim or whatever else, would I need to unroot before I take the phone in? Also, I see there is are some posts stating that there is a root now. If I were to load the unrooted and then choose to root later, would I be able to? Sorry for the newbie questions, and thanks

Best to SBF before returning device for service..

I seriously need some help with this. I have downloaded all of the links that are associated with this post and have followed all the directions exactly.

When I get to the SBF it fails EVERY SINGLE TIME and I really want to get my phone on track with the official Gingerbread software on it.

Will someone please help me? I don't know much when it comes to all the fancy terminology so instructions in English would be fabulous! LOL

Thanks!

I am on GB. 588 and just booted into bootloader by holding power + volume down + camera button.

And I'm not sure you need USB debugging enabled. When in bootloader rsd lite should detect if proper drivers installed. I am sbfing with the sbf file on my computer to see what this Moto thing is about, so I can't verify debugging on GB, and can't remember if I had debugging on but I don't think so.

Not needed, I've had successful sbf with this off. No worries.
